    Regenerative Plotting

That makes sense. We've had a good deal of rain and relatively mild temperatures so far. The main field has a lot of panicgrass, Indian grass and sandburs with partridge pea, butterfly pea and a few wildflowers mixed in. I'll try planting in to it in September then cultipack and mow. I was...

    Regenerative Plotting

Has anyone tried Mycoapply? Half my plots are pure sand with almost no organic matter. In the spring and summer my seed can't out compete the native "weeds" on this depleted soil. I tell myself at least something is covering the bare earth. In the fall cereals do OK. Not sure how they willl do...

    Remington Bankruptcy

I haven't been too impressed with their last few entries into the handgun market. I wouldn't mind owning one of the original model 51's. Those were neat looking little pistols.

I'm so jealous. I've got sugar sand. Maybe one day I'll have soil...

    Small chainsaw recommmendations

I'd recommend a good light Stihl. I end up using my MS250 or my Makita 4300 for the majority of the small stuff. The MS361 gets a lot of use for bigger jobs. A small saw with a sharp chain works better than a big saw with a dull chain. The Stihl 2 n 1 ez file or Pferd Chain sharp CS-X filing...

If I'm telling my wife about it the plan is already doomed... That's not actually true, I hit critical mass a while back and she no longer knows or cares how many I get as long as I convince her we're not losing money.

I ran into a good deal on Starline 41 mag brass so I picked it up, no 41 mag wheelgun. Found a Smith 57 and a 657. Talk about the tail wagging the dog. It's a fun caliber.

    Regenerative Plotting

I got Tularemia from a tick in April of 2018. My joints aged 10 years in one week. Don't particularly care to sample any of the other tick borne diseases!

    Regenerative Plotting

I was finally able to get 3 tons of aglime on around 5-6 acres. The coop in Chandler stores the aglime outside so it has to dry before they can sell it. The spreader with lime was more than my truck could tow. Thank goodness for generous neighbors! There was a tighter portion I hit with pelleted...

    Triclopyr to kill dormant trees

Jteeen, I believe you're correct on the volatility. I'm not sure either way on soil activity when comparing amine to the ester. In a purely hack and squirt situation I found the amine (Triclopyr 3) recommended more than the ester (triclopyr 4)...

    Triclopyr to kill dormant trees

I picked up some triclopyr 3 the amine prep of triclopyr specifically for hack and squirt. If I understand correctly it will have less soil activity than the ester. The ester would be superior for basal bark treatment. I’m new to most of this so I’d defer to someone with more experience if I’m...

    A reasonable explanation

My pop's cat only leaves the tails. He's a squirrel killing machine. Had to take an Xray of him once. Bones from stomach to anus. Pop feeds him an 1/8 of a cup of food a day and he's still a little fat. Like most of us, that cat shops at a different grocery store. He's just better at it than I am.

    Regenerative Plotting

As far as equipment, I have a 1971 JD 4320, the SCV's need some work. I have a new Kubota MX5800 with a FEL but no rear hydraulics. I wish I'd bought a little more tractor with this one. I have a 3 pt spreader that works fine on the Kubota. I also have a 6' brush hog, a disc and old Deere DR...

    Regenerative Plotting

Thanks MM, good information. True, I was hoping to avoid it, but that doesn’t change anything. I have to go an hour away to find aglime. The pelleted lime is pricey for what I’d like to do. I’ll try to get it in ASAP.

    Regenerative Plotting

Not trying to hijack this thread but it seems the most appropriate place to post as I’d really like to go regenerative from day one. I have a 6 acre field with very sandy soil and plenty of bare patches. It was last disked and planted in WR three years ago. It’s coming back as an old field with...

This may have been posted in another area. It's a piece put out by the Noble Institute in Ardmore, OK so the results may be more applicable to native cross timber habitat. Either way it was an interesting read. If you prefer a google search for the .pdf, the title is White-Tailed Deer Their...

    Regenerative Plotting

This may be one of the most interesting threads I've read. I purchased my land last summer. My initial goal was just hunting. That morphed into rebuilding native crosstimber habitat, soil biology, pollinators, prescribed fire... It's easy to go down the rabbit hole. Now I find I'd rather work on...
