    Trimming trees

I pulled tree tubes off yesterday and a couple of my fruit trees looked strange. When I received my fruit trees, the main lead was already trimmed. That main lead is now dead it looks like. No green in the top couple inches of it at all. But it had many little shoots that are green and alive...

    Tree Stakes

When I plant a tree, I use a 5' tree tube, landscape fabric for weeds, and a t post to keep the tube steady on windy days. BUT, my t-post supply has dwindled. I read somewhere where guy ripped a 2X4 into 3rds and used those for his stakes. Anyone else have cheap suggestions? I bought some...

    Trimming young trees

All of my trees are young. 1-3 years old. I had planned on trimming them in February. They are all tubed. Do you cut off those small limbs that are growing inside the tube? Sent from my iPhone using Deer Hunter Forum

    question about moisture mizer

I just planted some trees recently and wasn't able to apply the moisture mizer. My question is, can I just sprinkle it on the ground at the base of my tree and cover with landscape fabric? Or does it need to be actually in the ground closer to the roots?

    irrigation advice

Thanks for all of the advice so far as this process unfolds. I'm tying into an existing waterline to irrigate this 1 acre food plot as well as my fruit, oak, chestnut and hazelnut trees. I'm guessing there is something out there that I can use in the form of a timer, which will allow me to...

    Question

Is it okay to spray the 2nd time in the spring and then broadcast seed on that same day? I was under the impression I had to wait to broadcast after that 2nd round of spraying until the gly had done its thing? Sent from my iPhone using Deer Hunter Forum

Need help with food plot timeline please

I’ve tinkered with very small plots just to kind of get a feel for what works and what doesn’t. After this bow season, I want to begin work on an area that’s 1 acre in which I’m going to plant. The first thing I’m going to do is lime. Soil tests show I’m right where I wanna be. Can you guys help...

    got some oaks in today

It's finally cold here. I can't plant these new bare root oaks in the ground until December 16. Keep em cool and make sure the roots are damp. Will this be okay until I get them in the ground? Terrible timing. But it is what it is. Thanks

    tree mats

When buying tree mats, are they all pretty much the same? Or should I be looking for a specific mat that will allow water through and keep weeds down? A quick google search last night yielded about a million different kinds.

    No till LC mix help

As this bow season has developed I’ve found an area of my land that I absolutely must put in a food plot. Big timber to the east. Bucks over 180” go from thr big timber to the neighbors to the west. I have 3 resident doe that seem to stay on my land. Definitely need to change that. I’ve seen...

    hazelnut trees

Or is it a bush? I don't know. Anyway, anyone have these growing? I was gonna add them to my arsenal this winter. I've read deer will walk past oaks to get to a hazelnut tree and since my land is loaded with oaks so I'm hoping this is a nice change of pace. They will need to be tubed and...

    can you......

I've always wanted to try the trail cameras that will email you pics of what's captured on camera to your phone. Is it possible just have that feature for a couple months (like October and November)? Or is it like a contract thing? Curious to know what the costs are with it. I have unlimited...

    Try this again....

Last fall/winter I had a several of Wayne's chestnuts and some bur oaks going. I managed to keep them alive during this sweltering Texas summer. Fall and winter rolled around and watered occasionally when were seemed to be in a dry spell. Trees were outside. Spring rolled around and 1 out of...

    screen ideas

I am looking for something to plant along a fenceline for screen. Normally I'd just go with MG but the limiting factor here is the lack of dirt. You get about 2 inches down and it's rock. Not solid rock, but chunk rock. Will MG still grow in that situation?

    raccoons grrrrrrrr..........

I can't keep them off my new deer feeder. I have a 350# boss buck feeder. I have shark teeth installed on the front and back of each leg, yet those little 4 legged varmints are finding a way up it still. I'm just about to the point where i'm going to begin trapping them. I installed the 2nd set...
