In my food plots? I didn’t plant this.

This has become prevalent in a few of my plots. Looks like it does get browsed a little. Any thoughts on what it is and value for critters? Sent from my iPhone using Deer Hunter Forum

    Is this a Complete failure?

Planted a brassica mix in mid July. Mostly rape and purple top turnips. Looks Ike heavy browse pressure already(approx .10 acre). Also area flooded after heavy rains. Should I start from scratch? I have a blend of winter rye, wheat and peas with some brassicas I can use. Or will It rebound/...

My deer seem to not like grains.

Every time I plant grains or have them in a blend they seem to get ignored by the deer. Tried again this. Here is a pic of a plot (blend) where the grains (wheat and rye) are 5ft tall turnips and other brassicas in it too . Is this an issue or normal? In upstate NY. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Bugs in brassicas.

This is 2 yrs in a row that i has bugs demolish the leaves in a brassica plot. Up until mid September all looks good. Then I get back to the property a few weeks later and the little critters have done their damage. Both years I could find the actual bugs that caused the damage but the evidence...

    Grass becoming a problem

Looks like this grass is determined to take over my clover plot. I mowed 3 times and sprayed twice last summer with Clethodim and it has worked in the past, for some reason spraying didn't do much. Now I have an issue entering spring. I can try spraying earlier this year- early May? If that...

I usually wait until late march to frost seed clover. Right now all the snow is gone, tomorrow - lots of rain in the 60's. Next week or so nights are below freezing days above. But it is still Feb and who know what the next 4 weeks have in store ( in New York). Contemplating frost seeding...

    Turkies wrecking my brassicas?

I planted a turnip and sugar beat plot that seemed to be doing great. Now a majority of the plants are completely defoliated. Planted the same thing last year with no issues. I first thought worms or insects but didn't see any. After checking my trail cams a flock of turkies have been regular...

my plan last weekend was to mow and spray buckwheat to get ready to plant turnips. Mowed first ( they were over 4ft tall) and then the skies opened up all weekend. Was hoping to turn over and plant this coming weekend. I have a tiller and disc harrow. Which one would you use given never got...
