    We have FAWNS

I put this in the Native Habitat thread because this is in some native grassland I’ve been working on. While I was on the tractor my heeler and lab made a new friend. Before I walked over to make this, they were all laying in the grass watching me on the tractor.

    It’s on..

The drought that is. Not crazy about mud, but I HATE dust. Gonna be a long, miserable summer in northeast Georgia.

    New Toy

Bought me a new toy the other day. A Ryobi 10” battery powered pole pruner. I really like it, but to anybody who says “a charge will last as long as you want to work” obviously hasn’t worked with me. It can’t hang with Daddy Rabbit.

What is this in my woods?

I found this growing out in my thinned 40 acre pine plantation. Looks like Pampasgrass to me. What say y’all. And, if it is, how in the world did it get out there??

    Farm turkeys

When we bought the farm in 2002, there wasn't a tree on it from a clear-cutting operation in 2001, except for the SMZ's around the two small creeks. Though there were turkeys on properties surrounding us, we were devoid of them. Since we bought the farm to manage for deer hunting, however...

    Late Freeze???

Well I thought this would be the year I didn't have to deal with this crap, but nope. Never got below 39 degrees according to the official temp, but by ned it got colder at the farm. Check out what it did to my chestnut trees in the lower areas. Dang it. This is the kind of crap Triple C is...

    Kansas Wheat Plot question

Question for you Kansas guys. I see several wheat fields planted out here in north central Kansas (near Marysville) that look like they’re only 3 or 4 inches tall with lots of bare ground between the drill rows? Is that how wheat behaves out here or was it just planted late? If that is all the...

    Sheds 2020

This is pretty cool. Let me put a plug in here for my Spartan Go Cams. I love these things. This is a picture of a young 10 pointer that I've been watching for 2 years. He was an 8 last season. Not a monster, but easily identified. This is a picture of him at my feeder box on Wednesday...

    Coues Deer

Any of you ever hunted Coues deer? I’m planning a trip to Arizona in 2021 to hunt them. I’ve given up trying to kill a really big buck so I’m gonna try to kill a really small one.

Anybody ever seen this on their chinese chestnuts? I've had this happen to 5 of the ones I started from the seeds Wayne sent me. The other four have all died soon after this appeared. I'm wondering if it ain't the Blight.
