    Speed up the "thickening"

Im going to be doing alot of edge feathering around my plots after deer season closes, or closer to spring depending on our winter. Is there a way to speed up the thickening after the cut? I dont want it to be so bare for so long that deer abandon my area. Some smaller maples I plan to try...

    Best time to cut

As we head into winter, I was wondering if there is a time that is better than another to do some cutting to get the most stump sprout regeneration on things like maple etc? Years ago before I got into habitat things, we had some maples cleared at our old house and I remember them sprouting...

Best time to cut maples for sprouting

As I sit in my blind each day and not seeing deer, Im always making notes of more habitat projects. I have a bunch of maples that need to come down of various sizes. What is the best time of year to drop them so that they sprout from the stumps as heavily as possible to create browse?

Throw n Mow gly use question

Ive decided to try the Throw n Mow planting method this year on my plots. Ive always used an ATV disc which isnt the easiest process. My question is, if I use gly to burn down my grasses/weeds, and the deer still come thru and try to eat something, wont that harm/poison them?

Using barbed wire to direct movement

Wasnt sure where to post this. Ive read of people using barbed wire to direct the movement of deer. Much of what I see these days say to use hinging etc to block paths and funnel deer etc. My problem has always been that trees that I would normally hinge, are firewood! I live in a cold climate...
