Persimmons...how do I love thee...let me count the ways.....

I tubed all of mine and the survival rate has been poor. I also planted them on a rocky hillside which is not their preferred soil type. I planted bare roots from the state about 5 years ago. I have a few out of the top of 5' tubes, the rest died or are still tiny. I would cage them. Sent...

"Whitetail Hollow" - 90 Acres NE Oklahoma.

I read on the state site that turkeys are way down this year. Not sure why, it's been wet for a few years. Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk

"Whitetail Hollow" - 90 Acres NE Oklahoma.

The amount of money/out of state money in these Oklahoma grows is insane. 100K for 3 phase electric, half million steel buildings, 100k for 25 AC units, all in cash. It's sad because if we wanted to buy our own family land we can't because it's worth too much. One positive is I already am...

Burned off old Bermuda, now what?

I'm in NE OK. If it's on a big slope yes you will have some erosion. But there will also be large roots from many different grasses still in place. You'll also probably have a ton of nutsedge pop up as it laughs at roundup. Bermuda may not be the best for deer, but having a little isn't bad...

Burned off old Bermuda, now what?

I'm not sure what part of the country you are in, but burning bermuda just made it happy and it will come back with a fury. You'll need to spray 2 or 3 times and even then it will come back. You'll have to get native species established before it can take back over. Sent from my LM-G710 using...

    The Year of The Oaks

I love the oaks. Bur is my favorite since its nearly indestructible. I don't have enough land for it though. Shumard is a close second on the red side. Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk

    Killing Sweetgums

Tordon rtu will kill almost anything. Comes in a squirt bottle. It will travel through the soil to the roots of desirable trees. Triclopyr (remedy) is another option. If glyphosate doesn't work you can try the two above. All 3 work best immediately after a cut stump. You can also do a basal...

    New gear reviews

I don't have an omega but yes they all stand around and wonder what happened. I could've shot most if not all of the group of 7 does. Still loud but saves the ears a little. Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk

"Whitetail Hollow" - 90 Acres NE Oklahoma.

I think those people would poach anyways. They are the same types that hunt during regular gun without a license or hunt muzzeloader without a muzzleloader. Fact is deer hunting for meat is becoming less popular than ever and with more and more clearing of country land the more they multiply. We...

fewest # does ever on my property....

Yes. 800k for 100 acres that 2 years ago would barely sell for 200k. Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk

fewest # does ever on my property....

Not sure your area but this has been a strange year from everyone I've talked to. We are doe city also and I could probably get the same amount if I lived on the property. However this year the does have completely changed patterns, herded up early, and are staying out of the fescue hay fields...

It's been strange at our place also. I didnt see anything except a spike. The does are already in a huge herd which is weird for this early. Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk

To plant grafted persimmon or hybrid oaks?

I plantes over 150 persimmon on Rocky soil. Tubed them all. 75% died and 5 years later a handful are out of the top of 5' tubes. If you have good soil and cage them, i think they could be good and will produce faster than most oaks. You need more than a few to draw in deer reliably. Sent...

    Few beginner questions (rain, does)

I shot a buck friday with my bow and it was gusting 30. This is a stand in the woods next to a bedding area. You won't see them grazing in the fields in that wind but they do move. Does get pressured just like bucks, and you can burn out a stand quickly. They are quicker to forget though...

Yearling bucks with that deer in the headlight look about em

Saw my tiniest buck ever. I think it's a spike fawn. Watched him play with his sister for an hour headbutting each other. Extra dumb. He's taking care of business in this picture. Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk
