A FYI if you have a loved one you think might be a candidate for a nursing home

I don't do other social media besides a few outdoor forums but feel this message might help someone on here perhaps. I recently had the opportunity to try and get my mom into a nursing home. What I found out is that one has to have 4 covid shots in order to qualify to get in or have a 7 day...

24d traits in non listed 24d trait beans

I've noticed the past couple years when I have spot sprayed 24d in my bean fields that the beans were set back but then came out well after a couple weeks. They were over sprayed heavily when I targeted the marestail and waterhemp growing in them. Some were hit lightly but some took a bath., the...

    Kieffer pear tree still loaded

The scions are for grafting onto rootstock or top working an existing tree. Google grafting and a wealth of info will be at your finger tips.

    Kieffer pear tree still loaded

Trail cam on tree showed last pear on tree Dec. 16. I bought this tree as a keiffer. It looks like the others that I got with it and the others load up with pears as well but this one has held them the latest. I will cut scions for people if they want some. I will put 8 in a prepaid envelope...

    Deer and elderberry

just stick a 12-14" piece of the stem as far into the ground as possible. Leave about 2" above ground. Take a tile spade, stomp it as far as it will go, pull it out, slide cutting as far down as you can get it, stomp the slit shut and move another 2' and do it again. One can plant hundreds of...

    Wildlife Shrubs

Dividing and surrounding plots with screening makes daylight use almost a given. Whether it be miscanthus or shrubs they'll both work. Keep in mind if your going to use herbicides so that one has a plan to use without killing the other stuff.

    Game Camera Recommendations

One can get a 2 pack of spypoint link micro with 2 cards for 139.99 from academy sports. They just have to be connected to the spypoint app to engage. One doesn't have to pay anything for cell images, don't have to be functioning as a cell camera to still take pics as many and as often as one...

Maverick or Blind Turtle deer blind

Now I'm no big fan of maverick windows but the strength of maverick blinds under weight is pretty high. I know I could sit on top of mine without it caving. They are all attached firmly to 6x6 bases. There is no way snow could cave them in if they are firmly attached to a base. I could see...

    Winter minerals

Doe, thanks for encouraging me to google it, I also learned something new, there is an animal that can slow their embyo developement way down greatly and delay/elongate its gestation period considerably. I don't recollect the name of it, as I was intent on finding the info you described. I may...

    Winter minerals

That article talks nothing about does slowing down their embryo development. It talks about how deer in general survive harsh winters and slow their metabolism down to survive on the limited groceries they have access to in cold conditions. I googled white tailed deer embryonic development and...

Maverick or Blind Turtle deer blind

I have 3 maverick six shooters. I bought as a package deal for a great price. The blind shell is good but windows aren't. They are too small and too big of space between them to see without moving your body to see out other holes. They are not air tight as they come but one can improve that...

    Winter minerals

I'm not sure what you mean by suspend embryo growth until next spring. The doe we take in the January antlerless season have had well developed, small but miniature deer looking fetuses in them when we field dress them. They are about 5 or 6" at that time. That's a lot of growth from...

    White Oaks or Sawtooth Oaks

The sawtooths I planted as seedlings in '14 are around 10' tall and haven't hinted at any production. Perhaps they don't like my heavy clay. I've planted more seedlings and acorn from this forum the last couple years so I haven't given up on them but ....... Same goes for Chinese chestnuts...

    Kieffer pear tree still loaded

I just put a camera on it today to see what cleans it up. All that were on the ground were cleaned up but there were roughly a hundred left. I pulled one down and ate it. It was very tasty, firm, and sweet. The grit I know keiffer for was not present. We've had some good hard frost since the...
