    Winter Rye

I have a plot of rye that's about knee high already. Any advantage or disadvantage mowing it this late?

    Big Buck Mix

I just planted this mix on the 15th. I also added winter rye to it. Would I be able to frost seed this mix next spring? Would that be wise? I don't want to redo the plot again. I now have the equipment to properly maintain it. Keystone Big Buck Mix Mix Composition 35.0% Trifolium repens, Ladino...

    Big Buck Mix

$3.20 per pound. https://www.ernstseed.com/product/keystone-big-buck-mix/?anchor=1 I lost my plot last year because I mowed it way too short. It's currently 2 acres of weeds about head high. Planned on mowing, spraying and starting over. If I don't plow how do I get seed to soil contact?

    Big Buck Mix

I was thinking about adding rye and/or spring oats. Can I add a brassica to this mix as well? I should add...I don't have a drill. Going to plow, disc, seed and drag.

    Hunting times

Agree with what others have said. I put no stock in the moon. For me it's temperature, wind and stability.

    Before & After Pics

I think my situation is the exact opposite, Drycreek. And I don't know why. I was consistently getting trail pics of 7 different bucks of all sizes throughout spring, summer and early fall. The buck I arrowed was a regular, but once November hit I was getting pictures of what I consider shooter...

    Before & After Pics

That's sound advice and I do get a lot of enjoyment out of trying to improve the small amount of property that I have control over, but I find that I'm rarely satisfied, and always wanting for something more or different i.e more property, more variety, more diversity, more equipment, etc. The...

    Plot Screening

Has anyone tried Frigid Forage's plot screen or something like Egyptian Wheat to screen off a plot? I need to screen one side of a plot and I'm looking for the best option.

    Now What?

Good to know about the mowing. I was under the impression the deer liked it better if it was growing and not so high? Since I frost seeded white clover into it last spring, shouldn't it come on this spring? The mowing shouldn't have effected it, right? I can frost seed WR without working the ground?

    Before & After Pics

I'm a work in progress on food plots and land management. I'm learning the hard way more through mistakes than success's. I'm currently only working with 30 acres but in 2017 I've seen the best deer to date on the property. I had 3 bucks frequenting the property that I considered shooters. A...

    Now What?

Thanks guys. I will research these suggestions and possibly pm you if that's ok? This is what the plot looked like in the spring and into the summer. By August it was knee high and I got impatient and mowed it with a zero turn at 2". When it came back it looked like this with the weeds and...

    Now What?

I ruined my plot last August. Tractor was broke so I tried the zero turn. Cut it way too short and the weeds and grass took over. No clover left. I had frost sewn white clover in the spring that hadn't come up yet. Should I start completely over (spray, disc & re-plant) or can I frost seed? It...
