    Cabelas trail cameras

What do you use now? I’d like to be able to check them in the woods. But I’m getting tired of replacing them.

    Spring scrape use

I have a tree on my property that they use pretty much year round. Yesterday a deer was scraping the ground under it also. It’s my go to spot in late October

    Cabelas trail cameras

So I picked up a Cabelas camera. They had it on sale for $119. One thing it didn’t have that I would have preferred is a passcode to operate. It also didn’t have a way to lock the camera shut. So I will have to get a lock box for it. I put it out Friday afternoon. I checked it Saturday...

    Cabelas trail cameras

I live within 20 minutes of a Cabelas store. A couple years ago, I had a pair of Rockey bear claw boots that got to be in rough shape after 12 years of use. Took them into the return counter with no reciept and told the lady the are starting to leak. I got a store credit for $10 more than I...

    Cabelas trail cameras

I’m gonna pick one up next week and get it out in the mountains. I’ll have to report back in a month and see how it’s performing. Sounds like if they are decent, you may want to consider them also. I’m gonna make sure to get the warranty very clearified by the return desk. I

    Cabelas trail cameras

That’s what I was planning on purchasing. Just the lifetime warranty on the cabelas has me thinking. Not only for the normal mechanics of them, but the nosey bear every now and then that wants a chew toy

    Cabelas trail cameras

I know with any thing else that says Cabelas, they will pretty much tell you to get a new one off the shelf or you get a gift card if you want your money but don’t have a reciept

    Cabelas trail cameras

Yesterday I ended up taking another moultrie camera back due to not working. The lady informs me that the Cabelas cameras have a lifetime warranty. Does anyone on here run Cabelas trail cams? If so, what models and are you satisfied?

    Growing oaks questions

A couple of years ago I had the luxury of spending some time with family in Indiana on a Purdue property in early November. They use that property for forestry. Man, I have never seen oaks like the ones they had there. Huge. And prolly wasn't a branch for the first 50'.

    Growing oaks questions

I'm not so much planting them for myself, But my son and nieces will be able to enjoy them years from now. I look at it as if I don't plant them now, no one will.

    Growing oaks questions

I'd like to grow some oak trees from acorns. I was wondering if there would be a difference if I got acorns from some real old trees or younger ones. There are some trees a couple miles from my cabin that I'm guessing are old growth. They are huge. Would it be any better to use those acorns...

    Questions on location set up

I put two out. Neither are on just random trails. They are on trails to get to and from bedding to food areas. The area I set them up kinda opens up from thicker area they are coming from. I did set some mineral blocks up to see if they would hit them. I plan on getting at least two more...

    Questions on location set up

Let me start off by saying I am brand new to the trail cam community. I finally bought two moultrie cameras and put them out at my cabin a month ago. Last week I finally made it back up to my place for some field work. Anyway, went and pulled the cards. Apparently I didn't set them right as I...

    Looking for suggestions

I'm gonna get back to reading the LC mix and go from there. I would spend every night before bed reading on the old "site". But it was information overload when I was trying to consume all this new knowledge.

    Looking for suggestions

Last fall I did broadcast several bushels of WR into the beans. Wanted to have something green in there and see if it helped with weed suppression. But I haven't been up to camp in awhile to see how it's doing.

    Looking for suggestions

I'd like to get into the LC mix. I only started this non addictive food plot business two years ago. My soils still need improvements but it's getting there. I'm still learning what the deer like and what they walk past. So far I know they hammer soybeans. Doing less than 3 acres of them is...

    Looking for suggestions

The last two years I have planted my one plot with real world soybeans. This plot is 3 acres. I want to switch it out with something else this year. I spread WR in the beans last fall. I'm thinking about an all clover plot but I'm not against breaking it up into two or three different foods...

Need help on what mower to get for my situation

Love my ferris. If you're looking for a good zero turn, check them out. Plus, I don't know if I'll ever own another without suspension. I always thought my ferris rode nice. I didn't realize how nice till I mowed with a buddy's scag... felt it in my back after not long. I guess I got spoiled.

    Watering hole? Pros and cons

I'm not thinking about it for a hunting attraction, more or less just a convenience for the animals. Maybe I'll just take the loader and dig a little hole and put a camera up to see if anything uses it.

    Watering hole? Pros and cons

I have an area on the side of my mountain that a spring fills our holding tank. I often thought about having the overflow run into a pooling area for a watering hole. My question is, is it even worth my time since they could just drink it right from the ground or do you think they would...
