    Missouri NWTF Seed

Seed is the cheapest thing you can buy so don’t go cheap. I got some soybeans from NWTF and the stuff was 5 years old. You guessed it the seed didn’t germinate worth a darn. You guys do what you want to but my time and wasted a good growing season is worth a lot more than going to a seed dealer...

    Dry Year Throw Method

I’ve heard of this several times throughout the years especially with gardeners but I thought I would share. A buddy of mine was showing me some trail camera pictures and his wheat looked great and we had an extremely dry fall. He said his dad told him a trick for dry years = soak your wheat...

    Well, I’ve got it !

Hope your wife has a speedy recovery. We just buried my aunt last Saturday and her sister the week before that. Some people it kicks their butt. Local guy here had a empliment dealership and worked 10 and 12 hr days a lot. He was tuff and Covid killed him. I don’t know if they were all diabetic...

    Winter rye usage

I’m in Missouri so we don’t have any deep snow. All the rye I plant will look like bare dirt by spring. When you walk out into the plot it will look like hogs have been in it. The last several years I’ve been planting a mix to try to get the deer to use them earlier and try to compete with...

Has Anyone Ever Transplanted Persimmon Trees With Success?

Around here they are a nuisance to farmers. They grow well where a brush hog cannot go. I got a bright idea to try to dig some up and transplant into secluded open areas of my land. Has anyone tried this with success?

    Trapping before fawn drop.

Good job. I wish Missouri would let us trap coyotes year around. Like was posted earlier, trap them out in December and their back thick the time fawns are dropping. If I were you I would hit them hard the end of April and the first part of May.

7MM Rem Mag For a "Not new but not intermediate" Hunter?

I shoot a7mm magnum just because my shots are an average 300 yards and maximum 440. If my maximum shot was around 200 yards I would shoot a 270 because a light weight 7mm has a lot of recoil and you will catch yourself flinching.

    Radishes vs Turnips...

I have planted both and my observations were they hammer the brassicas early and devour the turnips late. Almost to late if your hunting over them but they won’t last long. It seems like when they start on them they eat them until there gone. Here is a tip I heard on here and I’m sure it...

Came across this disturbing photo.. How often does this happen?

Multiple predators are hard on adult bucks because they will try to fight and fend them off with there antlers while the others get their licks in from behind and weaken them. Most of the bucks are already weak from the rut then the weather weakens them more.

    Question

Be careful on spraying glysophate a few days later unless you have Round Up Ready plants. It would be a waste to have your hard work just starting to sprout and gly kill it.

What's your biggest mistake/regret with land management?

Some of my regrets are I bought 80 acres 19 years ago and should have went one county north. It has double the deer and better bucks but I wanted it to be handy as in close by. If I would of planted a small apple orchard just think what I would have as a draw now 19 years later. Not getting into...
