    Help! Browning BTC5HD850C big disappointment

Looks like a defective unit. It happens with any manufacturing process. I echo the praise for browning cameras (specifically the 2016/17 dark ops sub micro). I run mine year round on public land and have never had a single issue. Contact browning and I would bet they swap it out asap with a...

    Browning BTC5HDE

I have 7 of the dark ops, and I run exclusively energizer ultimate lithium. I run them on public ground, and can typically get 6 months out of them. If I set the picture quality to ultra, I often have less worry about the batteries, and more worry about filling the 16gig card before the season...

Has anyone tried RR sugar beets?

And I think growing them for anything other than agricultural production is a violation of the terms of use with Monsanto, and opens you up to prosecution if they found out. Sent from my iPhone using Deer Hunter Forum

    Native American Chestnut Comeback?

Don’t get me wrong guys. I am not saying the GMO version is THE answer. Just that it is a very promising project that could fill a gap that breeding wouldn’t be able to. I would love to get some pure American seeds to plant and be involved with the guys working towards a non GMO, pure American...

    Native American Chestnut Comeback?

They are intending to do both that, and producing a pure American chestnut strain resistant to the blight to re-forest all over the original range. In fact, I can’t remember where on their website I saw it... but they specifically mention working with the ACF B3F3 and the GMO to observe blight...

    Native American Chestnut Comeback?

Ya, but very few of the ACF B3F3 progeny maintain the true timber quality growth form that the American chestnuts were known for. They are a shorter, more branched version of the true American chestnut. I think we should attack the problem from all angles, so don’t confuse my above statements...

Stuff you have found on your property??

I re-found a clay tile French drain system laid in the bottoms of two small fields on what was originally my great grandparents place. I was walking the creek below it and came across the end of a broken clay pipe sticking out of the bank with what looked like a low flowing fire hydrant’s worth...

Hate the cams I own. Looking to buy a few new ones

One final shout out to the brownings. They take great looking videos. Here is one where I strung together 6 consecutive 10 second clips of a buck I call “Jr”. The detail is very crisp, and video makes it very easy to catch small details I may have otherwise missed. I did slow down the video...

    Walnuts

Ya, unfortunately the thornless trait is a recessive gene so most of their progeny will still have thorns. Same thing with the grafted improved varieties. They don’t have thorns, but 80-90% of their offspring do. Don’t know what I will use to replace the potential attraction for that time of...

    Walnuts

I live in grazing country. Not much ag around here. About the most we get is winter wheat fields for cattle. Because of this, bucks hit a lot of different food sources that guys in other areas say they don’t like. You mention greenbrier... one of the best doe bedding areas I have EVER seen is...

Shooting house tips, tricks and other ideas

Here is one we did for my dad’s place. We build them modularly , so that they travel as walls stacked flat on a trailer. They go together like a puzzle when we get there. This one is a 7.5X7 archery box. Sent from my iPhone using Deer Hunter Forum

Hate the cams I own. Looking to buy a few new ones

I have absolutely loved the browning cams I have been using. (2016 Dark Ops elite, and 2017 Dark Ops HD) The redesign they did late 2017 appears to be awesome. They have been highly reviewed, and I can’t wait to try them out. Here are some of my favorite pictures from my brownings...

    Walnuts

In my area, the fence posts that last the longest are Osage Orange (Bois d’Arc). I don’t know of a single farmer or rancher willing to let locust grow without spraying, hacking, or burning it... even if it does make a good post. Those suckers are vicious. We have both black locust and honey...

    Better solution for stratifying?

So, my sister and brother in law gave me some cigars for an early Christmas present and in the bag was a packet that is a two way humidity control device. After further investigation, they make them in a number of humidity percentages and sizes for numerous applications. What struck me was...

    Small Place in East Texas

Careful with the Chickasaw plums... they form a dense thicket from root suckering. They are a great plant to have, but don't expect them to be a well behaved tree. Sent from my iPhone using Deer Hunter Forum
