Winter?

Same here just a little south and west of you Cutman. Next 15 days shows highs around 60 each day and nothing near the freezing mark. Grains n radish are keeping ahead of the deer this year and clover is popping as well.

Average snow fall for January here is 20 inches. We had 5 perhaps. Setting up for a dry year following last years drought. Occasional rains tho with more rain/snow this week after summer temps next few days. Like you Cut, my rye and wheat, while only a couple inches tall, sure look green for mid winter.

67F at our place in western NC tomorrow, that’s way above average. It’s been wet too, so wet that my state run prescribed fire won’t likely happen during dormant season. I’d be happy with a growing season fire too, guess we’ll see.

Calling for a high here of 74 tomorrow. Low tomorrow night is only 50. That's unreal for this time of year.

24511E53-D0AE-4A21-B3ED-D86169AA08F3.jpeg Highs in the 20s with 16” of snow forecast this week. Cutman, my rye won’t look like that until 2nd week of June....

Easy winter so far for the deer here. The snow is less than ankle deep and the deer are out and about enjoying very comfortable temperatures. The snow is often belly deep by January 15 here. It has not happened yet.

Seventies here a couple days ago, low tonight 34, then 70s again this weekend. All the rain we missed last summer and fall looks like is gonna come this spring. Our winters are definitely shifting from starting in early December to starting in mid January. The only real problem with that is sometimes I can’t get plots in until the middle or last of May, then about the middle of June the faucet shuts off and the crops stop growing and the deer eat them up or they burn up, or both.

On one hand I want to go topdress wheat, on the other I’m ready to hook snowplows up and wishing for snow. T shirts yesterday nasty cold rain today. Wish it would make up its mind!

I’m just hoping my apples don’t flower ahead of a major cold front, always a possibility.

Golf past Monday, 3 inches rain today, snow tonight thru early wk. I was supposed to be out snow skiing today, but could only do so with a boat.:( Wish this was all snow.
Shouldn't complain, still in decent drought thru winter, rain is good I suppose. Have got nothing done at farm this winter.

I have a very old plum tree behind the house. I looked at it today and the leaf buds are already beginning to swell. That normally doesn't happen till early March.

I had daffodils showing in the mulch bed 2 weeks ago...since then we have had rain, sleet and some light snow and it's 20 here today with forecast of mid 40's over the weekend.... The weather has no idea what it is doing here!!! My daughter asks..."Why do we even live here Dad? The weather here is stupid and terrible!".....she is looking at going to college in Tuscon, AZ.
