Hired me a chainsaw operator

Pros:
  • Works for free. Just loves being out with his son.
  • Only turning 84 next month. Still low mileage.
  • Doesn't believe in taking breaks and gets a lot done.
  • Thinks gun control means hitting what you are aiming at.
Cons:
  • Can't name a single person in Hollywood since John Wayne.
He helped me get rid of some junk trees where I will be putting in some more chestnuts and sawtooth oaks. We had a great day. Trees are ordered, and he will help with setting them too.

Steve - You are a blessed man and so is your dad. Enjoy every single minute you guys spend together. Kind of chuckled when I noticed his ear protection as I bet back in his younger days he prolly never owned hearing protection for chainsaw work. Now if you can just get him into chaps, glasses and a hard hat!

This pic should be framed.

Thanks TC, I do feel really blessed to have him. Last November he was really sick for quite a while, so it is a special blessing to see him back on his feet and doing the things he loves to do.

I bought him a set of chaps last year and he told me that he is using them most of the time. I had already decided to get him one of the Stihl helmets with the built in hearing protectors this year. It would be a good gift.

About when my Dad was 80, I bought my him one of those self inflating life vests to wear when he was fishing, especially alone. He looked at it and said no thanks he could still out swim me. Stubborn. Glad your dad is better, that is some evil stuff to tolerate till it heals.

That part about out swimming you is funny. I love his confidence and attitude.

Fantastic Native. Blessed is the right word. Jeff H is correct.
I have always thanked my Dad for teaching me how to work (although I questioned that lesson as I was learning). He passed away at 77. Knew that was young then, but as I get very close to it I think "WOW"
Keep up the good work

I like my Stihl helmet. A quality helmet that's comfortable is key as to whether you wear it or not. I have some junk helmets that I got for free and they were expensive.

We Cleaned out a long fence row of junk trees and several other places within the tree planting that needed attention. We also stacked brush and then Friday began setting 20 new Chestnut Trees and 20 new Sawtooth Oak trees. We put in two hard days of work and another half day on Saturday - getting finished just before the storms rolled in. It was a heck of a workout for both of us. I talked to dad this morning, and he is telling me about how good it was to be out doing all of that work. He said, "I thought I might be sore, but I wasn't...." He is ready for another workout as soon as we can get out again. upload_2020-1-12_15-30-43.gif

Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing. (Ezekiel 47:12)

Your deer are gonna love those 20 Sawtooth and 20 Chestnut trees. Native you do a super job management your land.

Got some experienced help to boot. Thanks for the post so we all get to ride along.
