5ft DEM topo maps

If no one has seen 5ft DEM contour maps before, you might want to see if they're available in your area. The detail is pretty amazing for finding specific topography features that might go unnoticed with regular topography maps. My state's GIS website is where I found mine.

Wow....that is pretty cool. Topo like that are great way to find them pinch points in the terrain. I like finding them as the terrain seldom changes and as such even as the habitat may change what drives the deer's path of least resistance seldom does. I'll have to see if my area has that option....it has not in the past....

If you go searching for such a thing, pre-made, you might want to search for LIDAR or LIDAR derived hillshade.

Where LIDAR data is available, USDA has created the hillshades at 2-meter resolution.
Looks like there are some for part or all of Indiana.

GET DATA
Select your state and county
Look for ELEVATION DERIVATIVES >> LiDAR Elevation Dataset - Bare Earth Hillshade.

Follow the instructions to download the files.
