Archery, will it ever be the same again?

you need to check out the terms "flattery" and "mocking" and "unlimited time for all type of foolishness"
Not sure when they were coined but they do not mean the same thing

My honesty can be off putting to some.AS I stated, I did not join looking for my next best internet friend but instead to talk about hunting. In the internet world of forums some make the mistake of thinking that they need to go to war with an make an enemy out of anybody that disagrees with them and thats a shame. Im a bowhunter first and foremost. AS a traveling bowhunter I get to see all sorts of state regs. and ways people hunt. I support them all. I think that is being lost here and that some folks think Im anti crossbow when that is not the case.

If there is a set decorum we are to follow and things were are supposed to say and others we are to avoid and things we are mandated to agree upon, I need that info up front.

There is no set rule book here. People either fit in or they don’t. If you find yourself arguing against everyone, you might not fit in. Nothing personal against you...I don’t know you.

To date, Ive not argued with anybody here. Ive explained some things and shared opinions and talked abut bowhunting. I learned long ago that entering into an argument on a forum is a waste of time so I havent done it in a long time.

Well this thread certainly took a turn from the OPs intent.

If you’ve never seen the videos he posted about they are worth the google search.

The guy has figured out how to shoot arrows rapid fire and pretty accurate too.

Cool to watch.

As far as the “other BS” that has been spread upon the field of Internet forums today, I hope that this has taught me a good lesson of what to never allow myself to become.

Well I edit this after reading a link on another thread about a certain bow hunter. Don’t think I’ll ever give that person the time of day from this point on.

Yes, join me my son, and I will teach thee the true and just ways of the wild and ancient ones...…

Yes, more and more people want to bring as little of themselves to the task as possible so they buy things to replace skill sets like getting away with the motion and noise of drawing a bow on game in close quarters or bowhunting practice to build strength and form. Bowhunting is not for everybody.

Only According to YOU.

So for YOU that is a True Statement. For OTHERS it is far from true. But if keeping that thought in your head allows you to sleep better at night, then go for it.
"There are none so blind as those that refuse to see".
I cant believe guys can look at the current state of "gear" and not realize that the days of bow season is gone.
Yes, in most states I can hunt with my recurve regardless of the season, but its no longer BOW SEASON when pretty much any weapon is legal. Thats what we deal with in PA.
Whether weapon expansion is good for hunting, or youth opportunity, or the elderly ( Im 62 with arthritis) or the disabled,
Is another discussion. But the fact that weapons like cross bows, airbows (AND YOU KNOW THE NEXT INVENTION IS COMING), in addition to firearms being included in "bow seasons"...you are gonna tell me that its just my "opinion" that bow season is "dead"???? Give me a beak.

That is state dependent. Bowhunting is alive and well in Oregon and other state like WI because member driven bowhunting orgs preserve, promote and protect the sport of bowhunting.

It used to be alive and well in PA, too.
But dollars speak loudly.
A few years ago the airbow wasn't even invented yet. Now its legal in some places.

Yes some states allow non-bowhunting weapons like shoulder discharged, stored energy weapons with a stock, trigger guard and safety which can be shot from a rest or rail to be use within their bowhunting season because their state bowhunting org was too small and weak to protect bowhunting.

Its sad that its become the organizations responsiblilty to defend the season. But the state wants dollars. The very existence of game depts isn't to serve us. In their minds, their job to secure their bureaucracies.

They will eventually legalize ANY weapon for bow season if it keeps the dollars flowing from license sales. As far as they are concerned... to hell with tradition.
It was said earlier...roll with change.
ITS FRICKEN BOW SEASON. Its supposed to be for BOWS. Not for whatever a deep pocket can convince the game comm to legalize.
I know a lot of guys that were "avid" (give me a break) compound hunters until x bows were legalized. And then these HEALTHY strong guys tossed their wheels into the classifieds and bought x guns. They care nothing about bow season.
I defend bow season. It should remain BOW SEASON.

Thats why strong state bowhunting orgs and their members are essential. States without them had crossers lumped into what was a bowhunters season. non-bowhunting weapons like shoulder discharged, stored energy weapons with a stock, trigger guard and safety which can be shot from a rest or rail were lumped into some states bowhunting seasons by mistake because of the lack of strong state orgs. As the Airbow makes its advance, crossers will have no choice but to trip over themselves to welcome the air powered, muzzle loading arrows pushers into the season with them lest they look like hypocrites since they already pushed for shoulder discharged, stored energy weapons with a stock, trigger guard and safety which can be shot from a rest or rail pretending it was meant to increase hunter numbers in small kids and women and the elderly that could not take up the sport of bowhunting. That is the same lame argument that airbus will use and crossers will have no choice but to say "hell yes, we agree and support the airbow" it will get more little kids and women and elderly into "hunting" and those same crossers will demand that the airbow users be called "bowhunters" because they are killing deer with an arrow via a broadhead and hemorrhage. :D:D:D:D:D

Meanwhile, actual bowhunters will always be limited by the peak weight they can pull back with only excited, human strength at the time of the attempt on game in close quarters with all the related noise and motion of the draw.
