Hello my name is Drew Rankel,

My family has been the owner/operators of the Wolf Creek Ranch in Van Horn, TX since 1980. It is a ~25k acre ranch with mule deer, javelina, quail, and rabbit.

I run the cattle lease out there and maintain the Hunting Rights for all the parcel owners to access the entire ranch for hunting each season. People buy 20+ acres to build on or put up a blind then have access to the entire ranch for hunting. Its quite a community. I am thinking of putting on the First annual photo contest for Mule deer this year.

I attached some photos of the Ranch. Let me know if anyone has been or will be out that way.

Nice to meet everyone!Cropped 2.jpg A15 Cropped.jpg Cropped.jpg Texas Map.jpg

Welcome to the forum Drew. I’m in Texas too, but you’re way out yonder from me. I’ve been to Marfa, but no farther west in that part of the state. Beautiful country out there to me, not so much to some people, but I appreciate other terrain features after spending most of my life in East Texas.

Yeah it depends when you go. As long as it is not in the middle of a 10 year draught it is pretty lush. People think of tumbleweeds from the movies, so it keeps it all a great secret. I recommend to anyone to so in the Spring and Fall, right after the flash floods. Luckily, the beautiful times correspond with the hunting season.

Welcome Drew. Looking forward to possibly seeing your mule deer photo contest.
Thanks, I look forward to the results. Being that I've never put one on before I am sure it will be way behind schedule, but it should be in ship shape the second go around.
