Been very slow here on the hollow today but I have not bumped any deer that I know of today except the ones before daylight. I am glad I sat several stands because most had not been sat all year and one hadn’t been sat in 3 years so now I know what I need to do around each of them. The wind keeps switching between east and south with east being ok and south being not ok at all. I am in the most prime area I know of but I fear if I may educate something with this wind so I am going to make a final move to our south plot and sit back off it about 20 yards in a stand...hopefully see deer...

Okie, if I hunted every day I would burn out ! I went to the gym this morning to perfect my Schwartsenegger physique (it ain’t working BTW) and I have to help my son this afternoon but I’ll be going tomorrow and Friday. Good luck on getting that biggun !
I can’t think of anything I would rather do than spend every spare moment in November sitting in this beautiful world that god created for us...big rain and huge cold front moving in tonight. Wind switches to NE which is the ideal perfect wind for our place!

Back sitting off the greenfield. Only saving grace is a trail cam on a trail 75 yards from here did catch my target buck in daylight on the 4th...

Okie - You're an animal! I have never done an all-day sit in my life and take my hat off to you guys that can go in before daylight and stay all day. Perhaps moving 2 or 3 times during the day would make it easier.

It’s better when you have good weather and seeing game. I usually hunt till 11 and get down and go in for lunch and come back about 2 but I have pictures of all my shooters in that time frame over the past 2 weeks so all day sits it is while I can. Rifle season is now less than 2 weeks away and when that hits the game changes and never seeing the buck you are after again is a big possibility but since it is bow season there is a really good chance!

Wow...got out without having any deer bolt or snort! My tally for today...drum roll...2 spikes, 2 does, and a fawn...lots of squirrels both fox and gray, several pileated woodpeckers, a hawk caught something in the plot...I started off at the north end and worked my way all the way south toward home...small bucks and does are still the only thing that will come into my plot...post oak acorns were raining out of the trees this evening. Good day!

Oh, BTW...it is amazing what you hear throughout the day in the way of trees and limbs falling!

Agreed on limbs and trees falling. Way more than most people realize.

Started pouring rain about 7:30 last night. Still raining, temp has dropped 20 degrees and we have a strong north wind. I woke up at 4:30 checking and again at 6:00 and I just opened the front door wide looking out and 3 does are standing in the light of our pole light and house perimeter lighting not 15 yards away in our front yard staring me down...lol. My sit today is going to begin as soon as this rain lets up. Temps of high 30’s today and lots of wind...should get out in a couple hours...

Good luck Okie! After that front clears you should be in prime time action!

Just took down a antlerless buck. I had been sitting in my uncomfortable as hell Field & Stream chair for a couple hours, so I decided stand up for a bit to stretch my legs. Of course, and without fail, one of the bucks from yesterday came screaming by on the path. I thought I saw another deer that came with him, but right behind him. I had to move my crossbow out of the way so I could sit back down. By the time a grabbed the crossbow, he snorted at me and hauled ass.

I took a seat because I swore to myself that there was another deer in the area. I used my rangefinder to determine that if there was a deer there, it would pop out in the clearing at about 50 yards from me. I could hear the bigger buck from earlier still snorting. Finally about 2 minutes later the smaller deer came out and I let an arrow fly. It buried itself into the young deer's shoulder bone. I watched him thrash around for about 5 minutes, then determined that he wasn't getting back up. I loaded another bolt and waited a few seconds for the deer to show me its heart. I buried another arrow into his chest from about 15 yards away. He died seconds later.

Rain finally passed. 36 degrees and 15-25 mph wind. I spotted a doe heading toward my stand site so I had to carefully move through the woods. Easy to be quiet with everything wet and the high winds. I lost track of her so moved as quietly as possible to my tree and got in it. As soon as I got situated I saw her stand up from her bed about 25 yards away and move off into the creek bottom slowly. I am deep in the oaks...

Y'all are killing me. Sitting in my office looking at this computer wanting to be in the woods now. Hopefully I can get a hall pass from the wife for this weekend.

I am hoping something happens today or tomorrow morning because my optimal wind direction is going away about 10 am in the morning until Monday. Next week early is when the arctic blast hits...

Good luck! Tell her since it's Veterans' day weekend, it is what you can do for your country by getting out and appreciating the wilderness, and putting meat on the table the old fashioned way...
