Another kick at the can

IMG_3262.JPG

Well, here we are again. I made a post about this buck last fall. This is 6 years I’ve had him on camera. He is usually on my property daily for the month of September then leaves the last week and I might see him 2-3 more times for the rest of the fall.
He lost a g4 on his left beam and a bit of tine height but I think it’s just because he’s getting old. He is a tank of a deer.
The difference this year is I can hunt the month of September as I got my bow course a month ago and the opener is in 8 days! Been practicing non stop.

Look at the body on that deer! When you a hunt a deer like that, you have to make sure conditions are perfect. Wind, weather, moon, etc. Be patient and smart - you will get him.

Good luck with him. He is a beauty. As Cutman said wait for the PERFECT condition and take lots of pics when you get him.

He needs one more year...said the deluded man.
Great body. Fully mature. I'd like to have him walking around on my place.
What is his personality like? Bully? Sissy? Breeder or abstainor? Knowing his personality can help you to know how to hunt him.

Good luck!

This guy keeps to himself, but whenever he shows up during the rut any other bucks that are around vanish. So I’d say he’s well known in the deer woods.

Do you ever get daylight pics of him when the velvet comes off? My experience with ancient deer like that is they move very little during daylight once they get hard-horned. The only way they get that old in my neck of the woods.

good luck to you - to have the opportunity is a success in my book - to score on a goal buck of that caliber would be a life event for most of us. Rooting for you!!
