Perch idea.?

My post in the trailcam section resulted in a reply that the bird in question is catching insects. I would prefer my camera not be a perch. I was thinking a t-post with a bolt through a pipe nipple stuck in one of these clamps would do the trick. Anyone have better ideas?

Place snake or owl decoy on or near. Birds won’t come around. I place an owl near my Golden when apples are nearly ripe to keep ravens and crows away.

I was having problems with black birds eating my tomatoes in my garden. I bought a owl decoy like yours in that picture. I brought it home and put a stake in the ground by the garden. And put the owl on top of the Stake. The very next day I looked out the window and there was a black bird perched on the owls head, within a week the owl was covered in bird poop lol

I figure you have a few options depending on your desired goal.
#1 - make sure there is a perch available for a predatory bird like hawks....bye-bye birdie!
#2 - simply remove the ability for the bird to perch on top of your cam. Use some plastic sheeting or metal flashing and make a cone or the like to eliminate the flat landing surface.
#3 - make other perches or make a perch higher above your cam. Often time birds will sit and watch and within reason prefer a higher vantage point. Additional perches may draw it's attention and use away from your cam as well.

I say leave the bird alone to eat his bugs... Simply try to make some other accommodations for it. I get birds in cams from time to time as spider put webs on the cam and a bug gets caught and the kids it after the food. You can't really stop it entirely....

Decoys and the like tend to be short lived as the critters quickly learn they are not a threat.

Guess my inbred mountain birds are not too smart. I use that thing yearly and birds don't come near. Also use it in spring when males are banging themselves into my window thinking another bird is needing attacked. Decoy just sits on my porch.

I know a former DognSuds type resturant that has one of those under the awning. Birds built a nest on it!

Upon further review I wasn't clear. I'm looking for perch ideas. I have some bird spikes to put on the camera after I put some perches up.

I think you could fashion something out of PVC. Get the diameter you want and it should be pretty cheap and last a good long time.
