"Whitetail Hollow" - 90 Acres NE Oklahoma.

I would like to say they are but it would be a fib. Once the native plants start growing my plots are typically always abandoned till later in the year. A few deer come from time to time but not that many. The fall is when they really shine. Thanks!

I think it is similar here, but I get heavy use of chicory all year long starting in late spring and a little use of the clover early on. But definitely like you said - better in the fall. Best wishes!

Looking great! I don’t think my plots are getting hit really hard right now either. We have lots of face high native habitat post logging.

Not much to update...the job and brushhogging jobs have kept me from being able to do any work on our place since about February. We have had an unusual year as far as rainfall and actually the interstate and several major highways near us have been underwater for weeks. It was just a few days ago that highway 62 between Tahlequah and Muskogee reopened...entire towns had water so high it covered houses completely...levees broke...barges were runaways on the Arkansas river and hit the dam at Webber Falls... along with all this flooding we have had many tornados within just a couple miles of our place. The town of Pegg’s took a direct hit and community of Leech was wiped out.

We have a week with low rain chances and hopefully we dry out a bit but then the chances return. I know how bad the droughts can be so in our area (high, flint hills) I hope we have steady rains this summer that aren’t flooding rains for our lowland neighbors...The mosquitoes and ticks are horrendous this year as you can expect with high humidity and lots of standing water...

My wife came home for a week in mid May and we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and her birthday but she had to return to South Dakota the 24th of May. I missed the draw hunts for the reservation for this year but going to be all over it next May when they come out. I found out the Reservation record elk came from within sight of our house up there...of course you can see a fair ways from there...

Been doing a bit of work to my green 69 GTO to help lighten it up to be competitive next year in our local race scene...street and track. It is wild but several towns around me do sanctioned street races...the engine block, Trans, and heads are just mock-up pieces for goodies to come. Tubular core support, rack and pinion steering, lightweight brakes, coil over shocks, and control arms up front. Mini tub, coil overs, new narrowed rear frame rails out back...

Drove my old Blown GTO to Westville Cruise night last night...put around 120 miles on the old Goat. Saw a bunch of good friends and had some passable Mexican food...

I had a moment after church today so I rode my Kubota across the road...plot is getting a bit wooly but my experience is there are turkeys nesting in that field and trail cam pics just keep confirming that. I have a Tom turkey that struts the edges every day when the hens go into that field nesting...it’s a perfect setup for that with the waterhole at the edge, food and cover everywhere...

Looks like that car will be one to reckon with again next year after your rebuild. Funny you post that. Couple wks ago we have a cruise in thru town for hours on the 3 rd Sat each summer month and while I was there with my German ( yea I know ) I was wondering if you'd had your tire toaster out yet this year. Congrats on the anniversary, something to be very proud of.

Enjoyed the update. Always feel like I just did aerobics reading about your endeavors. Hope wife's job and yours going well. Happy Anniversary and good luck drawing next year

dogghr - it takes a lot of doing to be competitive as fast as everyone is getting nowadays...20 years for me and Christine...she’s a keeper!!!

Hers is doing good...I attempted to resign last months he to several issues mainly concerning my supervisor I have had since January...I turned in the letter, had an exit interview and was working my final 2 weeks and the CEO got together with the Area Director and they decided I had value...they offered to make immediate changes and I talked it over with my wife and I told them I would give it another go. I have my old supervisor back and things are better. Now if I can get my staff to come in to work more times than not everything would be great!

Always enjoy your updates Johnny. I admire you guys that are garage junkies. I had a '67 Chevelle back in the day but other than changing oil, that was about the extent of my garage skills. That thing was a beast, thanks to the previous owner. Congrats on the anniversary to you and the wife!!!

Been a while! Your place is looking great! Sorry you lost the Turkey and that your job was a pain for a while. Glad things are getting turned around though. Your build is turning out nice. That car will be quick... sit you back in your seat quick!
Glad the storms kept away from your place. It's been a crazy spring in this part of the world. I'm guessing it will be a record dry summer...

Thanks 3C. I have always been a bit of a mechanic...at least on old carbureted stuff. Had lots of old mini bikes, go carts, and dirt bikes as a kid and if I didn’t fix it myself I didn’t ride because my dad knew absolutely zero about that stuff. My first car was a 66 mustang with a 4speed and my second car was a 78 Trans Am.

Thanks Cat. I am not sure if the turkey died. I think it is the one in the photos because all I saw was 1tom all year this year other than a couple of jakes. I am excited about the GTO. It will be nice when I get it done. Hope you are wrong about a drought. We still have lots of rain chances the next 14 days...

You going to try to get on the 405 list?
I would love to but those are $150k cars. I am going to try to be competitive locally but it still takes about 1600 hp at this level...

I am not sure if this is right but I sure hope so! It was getting extremely dry with 20 - 30 mph hot south winds...been bumping around on the high prairie a couple of days...and spoiled for temperatures here...

Sprayed some clethodim I found on our south plot for grass. Hope it wasn’t too old to work...haven’t seen it since 1.5 week ago...no pics...

This deer was in my office at work...took its final ride home last Friday...

Jealous! Amazing area to explore. Some of the National Grasslands are worth a few days exploring. Bring a varmint gun for the prairie dogs:D

There are prairie dogs everywhere! I need to spend more time looking around up there when I go up. Got to get in on some hunting opportunities up there!

Well...just a few pics…

Took the grandkids swimming and fishing in a creek on a property I Brushhog a couple days ago. Fish are small but numerous and every cast is a bite or a fish on.
