Age Guess...

Anyone care to guess the age on this guy? I sent in his teeth and got the results back. These are the only trail cam photos we got, and dad was able to get him. I included the kill shot only so you can get a good look at his face. I’ll wait a while and post the results. Could help some see how accurate you are. Central Kansas.

September pics are tough but I'd say 3, maybe a 4 year old. Grey face adds doubt but I know some 20 year old guys with grey hair....

I'm guessing 3.5 to 4.5yrs old from the standing pics, but the gray on the face does make me think otherwise. His hooves don't look too beat up either...
 
A lot of you guys are right on track. Cementum aging came back at 5.5. When I first saw the trail cam pics, I thought 4.5. When dad killed him, I thought 6.5. Good to know for sure! I got my buck from this year aged too. I’m trying to get some trail cam photos together to do this on him. Should be a good one.

Not to be a downer, but just because you have cementum aging doesn't mean "known age." They have accuracy issues like everyone else on here does guessing, at times.
 
Yea i'm late to the game and was guessing before I got to your age post, but surprised especially for a Kansas buck he is that old. I was guessing 4 at most for that area since he had some belly, no sag in back, and neck wasn't quite full down chest. Nice buck regardless. Thanks for showing.
 
I think a lot of people over estimate KS genetics. I live on my place and can keep track of deer fairly well. It's not uncommon for a buck to look pretty much the same from 3.5 to 5.5 yrs of age (I'm talking both body wise and antlers). I believe a lot of these deer get old and never score more than 140-150. We have easy winters and there is plenty of summer food so I think lack of wear and tear keeps their bodies looking young.

Is that why you look so young and can run 500 miles/wk Cat??
