"Whitetail Hollow" - 90 Acres NE Oklahoma.

Exciting times ahead for you and your wife! You better start looking at prairie dog rifles, as the shooting up there is awesome. Gobblers in the Black Hills is so fun too. Tons of hunting opportunities on public ground, from antelope to mule deer.

Grandsons had soccer games most of the day and I kept seeing smoke in different areas from controlled burns. The wind was perfect and humidity was low so when we finally got home around 5 pm so I grabbed the leaf blower and bic and headed to the woods...

Fun times, I would like to light up my whole Kill Zone ridge. Do you scratch out a fire break or rake around trees?
It must be dry there to get leaves to burn after sundown.

Best burn I have gotten so far this spring. I actually had to put it out in several areas...I use a stihl leaf blower to make my fire breaks...works great! I am going to try to get a burn in after church today as conditions are exactly like yesterday so far.

You say wind was perfect. Does this mean wind direction or wind speed? Looks like wind speed was low. How fast did the fire move?

Slow complete burn. 5 mph or so low humidity. I was burning by myself so I don’t like the fire to move too quickly because it can get away from you and since I didn’t even light anything until after 5 pm I needed to make sure I could keep it controlled so I could go to bed...ended up burning about 5 acres total. Wind was blowing a bit toward the west so my neighbors got a dose of it...not intentional but you have to burn when you can...

That's not bad two days worth of calories for $13.50. The problem is that is one sitting for most people and they don't work like you do. Happy B-day.

Congrats on the big life changes!

I’m envious of your burning, that’s something I wish I could do now but will wait until we move closer.

It was really good! Have to do mechanic work today on the wife’s vehicle. Hoses, belts, small oil leak...then off to load up more furniture for the trip...

Thanks!

It is tough to burn when you don’t have everything just perfect as far as wind, humidity, not too wet from a previous rain...and then you have the fact you have to be able to hang around long enough to be able to watch the hot spots and “chimney” trees that can burn for days. I like to burn with a rain in the forecast the day or two after.

Saying goodbye to all the buds and young leaflets on the trees. Heck, even my pines are all “candleing” with the warm days and nights and plenty of rain we have had so far :(

Okie, what decision did you make on your lease? Hard to move on from something that is apart of you, but you and Mrs Okie are writing new chapters.

I guess they thought we were all gonna pull up stakes so they dropped it to $1150 but that is still $250 more than we have paid in the past. They did agree to maintain all our roads for us though so we won’t have to do that. They are working them over now...some new bridges, gravel, etc...

As far as deciding I told them sure unless something happens with our income...speaking of that we did our taxes - ouch!!!

Our weather is almost exactly as yours. At least the oak trees are not trying to pollinate yet I done my taxes a few weeks ago and got about half of what I normally got back. Still not happy about that one.
