Mattress

I don't know anything about the Purple, but we have the Beautyrest Black. Can't believe how much we had to pay for it at Mattress Firm, but it's a really nice mattress. Get it firmer than you like initially because it will break in softer.

She got a little dusty, but I can’t wait to give it a try!

If anyone is in the market for a new mattress, here is my take on the Purple. I love it! I won't lie, I slept like crap for the first week, but it wasn't because I was sore anymore. My joints felt great, but something about it being a new mattress didn't let me get a good night's sleep. As of today, I am sleeping like a rock and my back and hips are feeling much better. I will say that it is VERY firm. I may be big enough that it doesn't bother me when I sleep on my side. My wife weighs 115, and she is a stomach sleeper thank god, because she says it isn't very comfortable to be on her side. It seems to be temperature neutral. I don't feel like it makes me hot, but my wife enjoyed the old mattress providing some heat, so now we have an electric blanket.... :( Overall I think it was a good investment. If you like a firm mattress and sleep on your back, I think this would be a good fit for you.

I recently went with a memory foam mattress after years of standard coil and spring mattresses. I get a much better night's sleep with it. If you go that route be sure that the top in gel or gel infused. It keeps the heat down. The only draw back I find on the memory foam mattresses is they tend to be warm as they retain your body heat. There are "cooling" sheets that help. We'll see what July brings. Never tried the Purple mattresses but have heard good things about them.

Our memory foam mattress has transformed how I feel in the morning. Back pain is all but gone. There is one other downside....coil springs do provide some useful bounce.....:)

You best be careful or that new mattress may cost you more than just some new sheets.
