At 62, I enjoy the last sit of the year more and more with each passing year. The sit this morning was perfect. We've had relentless rain down here since before Christmas. It has rained every day for what seems like a month. Saturday morning, the skies broke to crystal blue skies. Around 9:00, I told my wife I was headed to the farm to enjoy the beautiful weather and one last hunt. Hunted yesterday afternoon with recurve. Woke this morning to temps in the upper 30's with a night sky full of stars. Left the cabin just as the sky was beginning to gray and headed to what I consider to be most serene and picturesque spot on the property - a secluded ladder stand located on the southern end of our property overlooking what we call the upper lower and lower lower food plots. Two hardwood draws flank each side of the plot with beaver ponds and swamp just beyond the south end.

Took this pic just as the sun was cresting the tree line and gave thanks for so much for which to be thankful. Fitting that I didn't see a deer. Just sat and enjoyed the morning. I love this place. And...I already look forward to the coming fall when we do it all over again...good Lord willing.

Sad to say the beavers have moved on from the pond I've posted pics of so many times. It's now mostly a mud flat with a little water in the south end. They're busy working farther south on the property. Come March, I'll trek back in there and take a few pics.
 
I appreciate your sentiments. Thing is, I’ve started spending time in the rednecks year round with a pair of binos. The serenity and opportunity to contemplate is too impotant to only enjoy in season. Love your view!

I like being out of the weather and worrying less about whether my scent is blowing out one of the bedding areas. I also find the reclining chair adds to my contemplative moments:). I’m setting up a tripod/spotting scope in our big plot complex. I’ll leave it there (locked up). There are times when binos just don’t provide the details I need.

There are times when a sit in a tree stand is equally productive. Particularly on a double ladder stand that is next to a babbling brook. It doesn’t have long views but it’s always an enjoyable sit.
 
You may have just inspired me to get out one last time this year. Don't need the meat but I do need the peace of mind. Our season ends in 8 days.

What a beautiful pic! Folks that don’t have the opportunity or that don’t have the interest in getting outdoors like we all do are missing out on so many amazing sights and experiences. If I’m not at my farm working on it I’m sitting somewhere thinking about it. Thanks for sharing this.
 
Your property pics are always special Triple C and they always relax me to see them. My hat is off to the plot designers and installers and of course the photographer; Every plot looks like a landscaping work of art versus just a bunch of oats or wheat or clover.
