That time of year again.....this thread will serve as the official sale/exchange thread for nuts and seeds for this year. For all those who are unfamiliar, feel free to post what you may want or what you have to sell/trade.

I encourage ANYONE who wants to try some tree growing to give it a go.....it's fun, generally easy, and there are a bunch of people to help with tips and tricks right here.

I personally plan to do some collecting this year and will update with what I have in the future.

Have at it boys and girls!

PS: We will have a separate scion thread on the fruit tree board.

I have said it before and I will say it again.....ASK! Just ask!!!! If you are looking for something, just ask. Many folks here are only interested in helping their fellow habitat manager. We don't do it for money or to get something in return. I have sent and received stuff with the simple request to simply pass it on. A small standard "if it fit's it ships" USPS box is roughly $7. Most simply ask you cover shipping. It also doesn't have to be "normal stuff". If you want maples or walnuts, or some sort of shrub or even grass or flowers or whatever......JUST ASK! We can't help you if you don't ask.

Another thing I will offer up is trying to get the seed from someone close to you if you can or even from a similar USDA zone. This will hopefully help your plants to grow healthy and not suffer from being outside their native environment.

I don't really have anything special to offer. I can get tons of persimmon seed from a big old tree. Drops from early October through November. I also can get Dunstan Hybrid chestnuts. Trees are pictured. I'm after DCOs and Concordias (just like everyone).

J-bird, I should have hazelnut to share. I’ll check my bushes whenever rain from Gordon let’s up.
Update: well, disappointed to share that I checked my hazelnut bushes along the creek, and found ONE nut on hundreds of bushes! Last year they were loaded, but this year nada. Looks like they were eaten fairly hard by Japanese beetle, perhaps that caused them to abort their nuts.

Will have:
DCOs
Pin Oaks
NROs
Few different species of White Oaks

Would love:
Different kinds of Chinese chestnuts
Hazelnuts
Late dropping oaks of any species
Chinkapins
Paw-paws, I’ll give them one more chance this year.

I should have some persimmon and water oak I can share. As well as a few late dropping burr oak if I can get to them year. They are over my Grandmothers house and she recently passed away. This may be the last year I have access to the tree before the land is to be sold.

Another possibility would be native pecans if anyone wants to start some seedlings for grafting later on.

I hope to have some Concordia acorns this year but how many If any I’ll have to trade is still up in the air.

Matt

I appreciate you looking.

So far the only thing plentiful around here is Bur Oak and Black Walnut if anyone is interested. Don't seem to be the in demand acorns but you never know what folks might need. J-Bird I'll pick up some PawPaw and SWO from you. You guys generally use Cash App or Paypal for payment?

UPDATE: Also have lots of Kentucky Coffee Tree, Western Soapberry, Osage Orange. Not necessarily for the deer but cool trees with other uses.

For those of you who see something you like.....make sure you actually reply to the post vs just making a general post - this will notify the original poster OR send the original poster a PM. This gets the original posters attention much faster and can get you your seeds faster.

I should have chinkapin oaks (not the dwarf) this year I will double check my tree in the yard. I also usually get American chestnuts every year if anyone wants some. Does anyone have American plum seed?

Ok, I will ask for the impossible?

I am looking for northern sourced Castanea pumila, Allegheny chinquapin seed from blight free trees in a blight free area to plant in a blight free area at 45N 60+W in Canada.

I’ll have Chinese chestnut, I have some real nice burr sources, chinquapin, english(columnar and traditional form), English crosses, and many other oaks (just ask). I would like new chestnut blood and late dropping sawtooth.

As of now I have sawtooth oak, gobbler sawtooth, American persimmon, and blackgum (Nyssa sylvatica). I have access to water oak, live oak, October drop Nuttall and January drop Nuttall oak, Shumard oak, Southern red oak, and swamp chestnut oak, but they haven't dropped yet. I am looking for any hybrids, especially Concordia oaks.

I have pecan, walnut, live oak and persimmon that will be dropping in the next week or so. I would like some mid or late dropping persimmon and late dropping sawtooth.

Does any one have dogwood seed (silky, gray, roughleaf) or elderberry? Anyone have experience direct seeding them?
