Congrats! Hope you enjoy it. Pretty soon you'll be buying a Ducati-lol.

It took a little while to get familiar with the Benelli, but now it's a hammer. It's so fast to the shoulder you might find yourself riding out birds so they don't get shot up.

Ran about a box of ancient Winchester trap loads through it last night. She tracks a little different from the 870's I am used to but you are definitely not waiting on it to cycle like some Rem semi autos I have had in the past. I was just hand throwing my own clays up and not missing too many for an unfamiliar gun. Can't wait to run it through some sporting clay courses or a trap range. Tried it with a a 3" shell on lunch break today, jumps around a little but still an improvement over the pump for recoil. There was a kid working over the patterning board with his bb gun so I haven't had a chance to pattern it yet. Just based on the clays I don't think there will be any shimming needed.

Heading back up to Herreid SD this year for opening weekend. The initial reports I have seen look promising. The guy that runs the lodge said he had one of the best hatches he has seen. One of the guys that has been going for years says it is time to buy a tube extension for the Benelli!

We’re heading up the weekend of 10/27. This will be my 16th consecutive year to go to SD. One of my favorites trips every year. Good luck to everyone else that’s heading up!

Definitely pattern your Benelli if you haven't already. I inherited a SBE I and after some terrible performances, I patterned the gun according to Neil Winston's method and found it was off DRAMATICALLY. Did some research and found on the turkey forums that Benellis tend to have point of aim/point of impact issues.

Now I have systematically patterned all of my guns and have made adjustments as needed.

Mine shoots just a touch high. Perfect for rising birds. I have done a lot of patterning with target loads and turkey loads, I probably ought to run a few pheasant loads through just to make sure it is consistent.

I recently got a Benelli ethos in 20 ga. The first autoloader Ive ever owned. (Im an o/u guy) I've shot many many autos, though, through the years. I'm impressed with them.

Leaving Thursday afternoon for the 10 hour drive to SD. Bird #'s look good. Forecast mid to high 50's and no rain. I'll take it!

Good luck. Hope you have a great trip. Heading up to Chamberlain a week from now (10/25) for 1 day of fishing and 2 days of hunting. 16th year in a row and I can’t wait!

Back in the grind today after three days of hunting and a lot of windshield time. Our group limited out every day, numbers were way up from last year. Opening day our 17 man group was done in 1 hour and 45 minutes. The gun was about hot after that one! The countdown for next year has already started.

Glad y’all had a great trip. We’re going to try and continue that hot streak this weekend. Traveling tomorrow, fishing for walleye on Friday, and pheasant hunting Saturday and Sunday. Can’t wait.

How did it turn out?

The trip was great. Weather couldn't have been any better. The walleye fishing was pretty slow on Friday but we still caught enough for all 12 of us to eat more than we should. Hunting was awesome as usual. We had 11 guys that hunted so our limit was 33 daily. Took us a little while on Saturday to get our limit but we made it. Sunday we limited out pretty quickly so that's always good. I look forward to my SD trip each year and would recommend making this trip to anyone. Beautiful scenery and tons of wildlife. Already counting down the weeks until next year....

Nice! I look at our trip the same way. No "big game" pressure, plenty of shooting, a little drinking and BSing. We have one guy that used to do competition BBQ in KC so we eat pretty good too. If it just wasn't for that 10 hour drive.
