How you center the filler neck of an aftermarket tank :)

Such a beautiful sight!!! One of the longest threads I've ever followed and well worth the wait to see that baby fired up and rolling along! Congrats in every way John!

I'm into old 4x4's myself, been following this thread for awhile.

Excellent work, awesome to see an icon resurrected.

Trying to make a decision. Do I get original seats done at 300.00 a pc or get new at 99.00 a pc ?? If I go aftermarket I have to go to black which was an option for my yr but I will have them Monday. Reupholstered original which only thing original would be the frame will be 2 to 3 weeks but close to original color ...help

If money is not a concern I'd go with original to get as close to original color as possible. As long as you been working on this project another 3 weeks will seem like a day or 2.

The guy that was going to do my seats just emailed me, said 8 weeks minimum so I went ahead and ordered new seats, if I'm not happy with them I'll get the originals done later but I'm not waiting 8 weeks.

Hmmmmm wonder what these are

To my surprise the drivers side bolted right up

Is it normal that the pass side is higher than the drivers side ??

Still a bit bummed I used aftermarket seats. My plan is to get the originals done this winter. I kinda like the black tho so need to decide on original blue or the black

I found two 3/4" high bushings from my wood shaper and put them under the rear bolts only, worked out perfect. For some reason i dont remember my knee touching my chin to get my foot on the gas pedal back in the day lol

Every old jeep i have been in the drivers seat was a bit lower than the passenger. I always attributed it to someone being in the drivers seat more and it getting pounded on country/farm roads. Maybe its supposed to be that way?

Used some cork gasket material I had around so I wouldn't have a metal to metal when bolting up the spare tire carrier

Rainy day stuff today

I painted the raised letters using a roller, the trick is to pour a little paint on some cardboard and roll the roller (dry). Then I used a Q tip with some thinners on it to clean up the edges. Need to touch up the J a bit with an artist brush
