Trapping before fawn drop.

Starting out slow. Picked off yote #2, my friend Jerry is checking traps while I'm on vacation. Caught in a remade set in the catch circle from the first one.

Yote #7, another bitch, that makes 4 so far gonna put a dent in the offspring population.

Seems to be slowing down now, I'll give it another couple weeks before pulling my traps.

#7 is nasty looking. I would have had to go take a shower after shooting that one. Looks like you have the trapping figured out!

Nastiest dog I've seen on my place. I had to Google mange to see if humans could get it after I handled it. What I understood was the mites will bite but not survive on a human like scabies can. I cleaned up good afterword anyways.

Still learning the ins and outs of trapping, might take me a bit to figure out if it's worth it. My impression after last year is that it was, we'll see after fawning season if this year plays out the same.

What lure/bait are you using for the yotes?

Don't remember the brands except Cavens predator bait. I'm using various gland lures and urine mostly. Haven't had much success with bait, I've caught 12 out of 13 yotes with just gland lure or coyote urine or a combination of in a flat set. I've only caught one with bait in a hole set.

I shot at a mangy yote last weekend. Strangest thing I've seen, laying in the middle of a cut hayfield with temp at 95 degrees and I was able to walk within 50 yards of it. It's buddy with a full coat was standing in the tree line watching. Maybe mange messes with their brains.
