On a very wonderful yet frustrating note; my target buck is alive. He using our farm everyday. I didn’t get one look at him or one picture during hunting season until Christmas Eve. He lives on us 9 months out of the year, but disappears during the rut. I’m hoping some of my projects will make him feel like staying home.

That is great news. Learn everything you can about how he travels your place, and when and simply try to narrow down a game plan for next year. He should even be more impressive next year. If he calls your place home for most of the year that puts a lot of things in your favor.....your just have to be ready to get him before we wanders off or wait, and hope, he comes back. Just knowing he is out there should provide plenty of motivation for you.......good luck.

P.S - you better hope he isn't after those red oaks???? Hahahahaha!!!

Those 2 pushed these 3 out around August. The old 8 in this group, was the most photographed deer that I’ve probably ever had. The big 8 and the 10 started busting everyday and I haven’t seen since.

Those are some great deer to look forward to. Very odd year on my place south of you. Plenty of deer, but not a single mature buck on camera. I shot the only decent deer i had on camera. And all of them from the year prior were killed in 2016......... on other properties :D

Going over for some habitat work Saturday!

I’ve still never seen a deer eat a chestnut, but English setters like them! I was planting more trees today and went upstairs to get some out the refrigerator. Came back to a too silent basement. You know the one where the dogs and kids are just too silent. Found my dog muzzle deep into a bag of chestnuts.

Meet Brodie; Gaelic for “comes from mud” or something like that. My wife named him; her choice was better than “husband sleeps on the couch.” I’m a beagler at heart and it was time for a new one. Rabbits are always considered in my habitat projects. We pick him up Saturday.
