Fertilizer

Anyone remember 80 lb. bags? Anyone miss them? My dad always bought a flare box wagon load of fertilizer in 80 lb. bags. The back end gate was removed so it was easier to access. I was about 6 to 10 years old and I pulled the bags to the back of the wagon from the front while he planted corn. Kinda glad I never had to fill the planter.

They figured out they can drop the amount of fertilizer and charge the same price...same as these 40 lb sacks of corn nowadays you get at Atwoods or Wally World for more than the 50 lb bags at the co-op...

I work at a locally owned outdoor store and we have a local farmer that shops with us. We bought 50b sacks of corn from him one year to sell for "deer corn". It was $9/50lb and didn't have a deer on it. It was also some of the cleanest corn around. Good old Wally World had it for $8/40lb a bag with a deer picture and some big company name. We almost didn't sell it. We actually had to work to sell corn with no picture and a dollar more than walmart. Its amazing what gets in peoples heads and you just about have to hit them with a hammer to get them to change their mind.
