Let the feast begin!

Love your Christmas pics! Do you have started trees for sale in spring? Want to plant some in NY zone 5a, Bob
I've got to much going on Bob, not going to be selling any this year. I have looked around and talked to ACN and Stark. They have some still available, give them a call.

Thanks for taking the time to post this thread Maya. Great pictures and stories, I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the response Weasel. We will get an apple cam back out in the fall. I'll go take some pics in the meantime of trees in the orchards. Starting to really green up finally. I took an orchard walk this AM. Everything progressing nicely. I'm at about 1/2" green with most varieties today, and it looks like I should be loaded! The 10 day forecast looks good, that should get us to tight cluster - pink. God willing we'll have another great crop. Incidentally, I'm seeing a lot of deer around this spring!!!

Hard to believe this was April 2nd.......

We are getting as much done as possible this weekend in the orchards. (taking a little break now) I am having surgery in the morning to repair some badly busted up ribs from a fall a few years back. Two never healed and are driving me nuts...! Some Liberty's today......

Thanks guys. Ya think I would have done something sooner! Just stubborn I guess. Thought they might get better, but they just got worse. Many Dr's said they couldn't fix them, I found someone up on a new procedure to fix them. (look at the left side, those two displaced ones, 7&8, never healed)

Dang Maya. Did you spill out of an apple tree and bust those ribs?
Liberty is nearly finished blooming here! 85 deg the last 3 days have taken things ahead another week.

I had the bottom of a climber blow out underneath me on my way up a tree. I had my safety vest on and was going to hook in once I got up to where I was going. I was in a hurry....bad move! Broke 6 ribs, 5 vertebrae, lacerated liver, internal bleeding, punctured lung, pneumothorax! Stupid I know! Don't cut corners. Not sure exactly what happened, I hit my head and was knocked out, I don't remember much. So anyways, those two real nasty displaced ribs never healed and are getting put back together with the aid of titanium plates tomorrow.

Love my Liberty's. These are Zestar!'s today. They are the most open of anything I have. Don't think I will see bloom for another 15 days or so depending on weather.

How was your fruit set?

Hope those trouble ribs get new life like the apple trees in spring. Good luck. I admire your apple orchard.

That x ray is like nails on a chalkboard. How long were you layed up from that injury?
I was out of work for a month and a half. This surgeon wants me to not lift anything heavy for a month, but wants me doing things right away. He wants me out in the orchards working and walking a bunch. I've got barn boards coming next week, so I guess I won't be part of putting that up. I've got a friend that is a contractor coming to put it up.

Back home, surgery went real well. A lot less pain than I thought I'd be in. I did go right out for an orchard walk, my wife yelling at me to get in all the way. lol. She keeps a good eye on me! We just walked, it felt good. Buds look great, should have a great crop. Deer should be fed well this year!

Hey Maya, just catching up, those ribs look evil. Get well soon and keep walking but not working in that orchard. Luckily the little lady is looking our for you. Good luck.
