I would say there is a chance it's the same deer, but I really can't tell for sure.
Looks like a good crop for a young tree. I would be pretty happy if my crabs produced that much next yr!

Place looks great. Does that fence keep deer out of the orchard? Doesnt look very tall. Just curious if it works.

Sorry,I never answered your question.yes it has so far.I raise off the ground 12-24 inches to get some height.I do the same when caging trees

Randy12016.jpg Well tuesday morning I finally had one of the bucks give me a chance.I ended up grunting him right to my tree for a 15 yard shot and a 50 yard recovery.Way heavier than usual for my area.Ended up scoring around 155 5/8

Congrats! That's a great buck. Frame is very similar to the one I shot this yr... almost looks like they could be related. Very cool!

That is a pretty deer.....the way the colors blend and transition from tip of antler to tail...would make a nice shoulder mount. Always amazed at the quality of bucks in that part of the high plains! Congrats! Friends of mine were near Garden city last weekend....haven't heard the report yet....but they always seem to find a giant and have a good story to tell!

He was only the 2nd deer that I have seen in that area that was that heavy,Pics don't do it justice showing that, almost 6 inch bases.i was very lucky as I only had 2-3 pics of him and most of my others moved a ways and were traveling.Second buck I have shot out ofthat stand the day before rifle season opened

High deer density in that area?

When our deer density increased exponentially in the late 90s, antler mass nose dived shortly thereafter. I can remember a day in March when my son and I stopped on the second mesa and counted 52 deer spread over the valley and lower mesa....the concept of 'too many' was driven home! Early 2000s took a trashy 140 main frame 10 with no mass measurement over 3.5". Some of that 'pencil mass' is still evident today in mature deer on the fringes.

Just can't get over the coloration on your buck.....some real eye candy right there! I can see the mass in the pic well enough. When you hunt alone it is kind of hard to pose a deer for best pic effect.
