Ohio Farm Tours

Just got caught up. You keep them bucks around and you will have one cross your path sooner or later. Just have to keep at it and be ready.

That sort of tail chase'n will get you in trouble. Engaged!!!! See.....I told you it leads to trouble! Congrats - I'm just poke'n fun!:D

Well all, as I told you I got engaged! I figured I had to share a few photos as well. I could not be happier to have my best friend by my side for the rest of my life. She supports my insane obsession with hunting and taking trips to the farm. I truly love this girl to death.

Back to hunting!

Hunting was very slow during gun season. The deer I swear know when its gun season around our farm. I did a test this year on a feeder. From opening afternoon of gun season, till the afternoon on Wednesday (2 days). Camera took 50 pictures, all of deer, all at night. Here are a few of them.

So far I have enjoyed my season. I haven't shot a deer yet but I most likely will once I find time to shoot a doe or two. I am hoping to get some more stand time in around Christmas. I am going on a vacation with the fiancé for a week starting next Friday!

Cannot wait to get back up in tree. Thank you all for reading!

Sure glad you came back to the Buckeye state to get you a woman !! :) Congrats and good luck on those bucks. A vacation in middle of hunting season???? One word…..prenup. JK.

Looks like some happy smiles there, buckhunter. Wishing you and Ms. buckhunter many, many years of health, wealth, happiness and antlers.

Congrats on the engagement.
You are a testament that man can marry up :p;)

An old Uncle of mine who was a hunter gave me the following advice when I was a teenager.
He said kid you are a hunter now, but one day you will meet a nice girl and ask her to be your bride.
So the best advice I can give you is to stay the hell away from her during the months of Dec, Jan, Feb and March
because I can assure you that failing to do so will surely screw up any plans you might have of hunting in the fall.

thank you all for the kind words! I enjoyed reading all the comments!

I hunted last night, saw one doe.
I hunted today with the gun for the last day of gun season. I passed three does. I have a lot of hours logged, just can't seem to get a buck to give me an opportunity. I will be trying hard after XMAS as I get 3-5 days off from work. Probably be up in a tree before then as I tend to figure a way to get back up in one!

Congrats on the engagement! We were out to Ohio for 5 days of gun season. I ended up coming home with a doe, so venison for the freezer! Buddy saw a nice buck but couldnt get a shot. Its seems the numbers are declining. Maybe the liberal bag limits Ohio has had for so many years! Wish we were closer than 14 hours away to be able to do more thorough scouting. Gain a little more knowledge each year out.

Ohio still has good hunting but numbers are WAY down. If I drove 14 hours I would have shot a doe as well. However many of us locals aren't shooting does on our farms because the numbers are just plum down!

I do plan to shoot some on a place I hunt that has a TON of deer due to the way the farm lays out.

It is a very interesting problem in the state. My farm for instances has does on it. I saw 6 in one plot in one night during the early season. My neighbor was seeing 10-12 does a night! Then all of a sudden we don't see any for a week! We have only killed 2 does off 700 acres(+/-) for 3 years. We are just not seeing high numbers still, you'd think the deer would be running all over the darn place. 'Makes me scratch my head big time.

One thing I am happy with is now you can only kill 2 deer per county, most guys only hunt one county so if they wanna shoot two does they are done hunting that county.

ok done venting, thanks for the kind words on the engagement!

Back at it tonight. Been hunting like a mad man. Just can't find a shooter. Had a couple in daylight, when I'm not around go figure hahaha.

See what happens. Ohio has a long season thank goodness for that!

Good luck buck. I have to say the deer numbers are nothing crazy down in Jackson co where I hunted this fall and the falls past. Seeing more bucks than does and was lucky enough to get one. We also don't shoot does hoping to build the population back up near us.

Hang in there! Some of the best hunting is yet to come. You seeing any deer on bait?
