Some friends and I are headed up to the Athens, OH area Nov. 6-13. We obtained permission to hunt about 400-450 acres of private land and may also hunt Wayne National Forest. Anyone in the area seeing bucks moving/rutting? My weather app has said that it will be in the low 60's most of the week. I hope it holds true and would like cooler weather. Any info from local hunters would be helpful.

Ill let you know if a few days......I'm heading out tonight to hunt all weekend about 60 miles north of Athens. First time out this year, so I am excited to see what I can track down! I do know its been damn warm as of late......so this (semi) cool down will help with movement, at least somewhat! Here's a teaser for ya of what you are looking for!

Yea im about the same distance from Athens county as Cas_Hntr. North east of there. Noble county. Ill be there tomorrow. Usually these next few weeks is when i get a lot of pics of cruiser bucks and local bucks. So ide say you got a good chance. Good luck

Thanks fellas. We were a week earlier last year and it was 70-80 the whole time we were there. Saw one doe the whole time I hunted. Lots of rubs and scrapes where I was hunting, but everything was being refreshed after the sun went down. Could watch leaves fall all day into the scrapes and come back to clean scrapes the next morning. Wasn't smart enough to take a trail camera in there with me.

I hunted that week last year too......it sucked, so don't feel bad! ha

Best of luck and keep us posted.

We had a great trip. Onl one of us scored, but we all saw shooters. One guy filled his buck tag on Monday with a 120"ish 10pt, then on Thursday, had a150" class 10pt at 20yds and couldn't shoot him. Saw a mature 8 with a rather large body. I couldn't tell if he was just a small antlered 4.5 or was an older aged deer with his antlers on the down hill side. He never allowed a shot closer than 50yds. This makes our 5th year to go and we learn something every time. This year was no exception. We also had the opportunity to talk to a gentleman that had been coming to the same place for 28 years and he gave us some valuable information to use next year. Always fun to learn new areas and make memories.

Funny side note: One of my friends dropped his pack once up in his tree stand, it had all of his food and drinks in it. Being the good friends we are, we started taking pics and making videos of us eating. That's what good friends are for right?

Bringing this one back from the dead…. Does anyone on here still hunt around Athens? My wife and I just bought some land north of the city. Looking to network and learn all I can
