Seeding Rate Help

looking to do a “throw and mow” plot for roughly 2.5 acres of plots. West Central GA soil PH 5.7-6.2 range. Clay/Clay Loam. Not great but it’s what I’m working with.

I’ve been spraying with 24DB/Cleth and .5-1Q per Acre of Glyphosate to kill off summer weeds.

3 different plots were in variations of Durana, Crimson, Patriot, Medium Red and Ladino clovers last year with oats and chicory.

This year I’m looking to broadseed in:
Austrian Winter Peas (25# acre)
Coker Oats (50# acre)
Abruzzi Winter Rye (50# acre)
Forage Radish (2# acre)
Medium Red Clover (5# acre)
Crimson Clover (5# acre)
Chicory(3# acre)

How does this rate sound? Too heavy, what adjustments should I make? Seeding higher due to the throw and mow method.

i would hold off on winter rye for some time....it will outcompete others off the bat. here is northern wi i won't even consider throwing down winter rye until early september, so not sure how that translates to you, but i just put my other mixes in the grown last week the clovers, peas, brassicas. So 1 month later i'll top dress the winter rye.

One could argue oats in that mix may do the same, but those peas you got in there will appreciate the oats for something to grab onto.

In my opinion, that’s too much chicory. I’d reduce by at least one lb. I’d plant some oats now and come back in a couple months and add the rye. I’ve had mixed luck with AWP. They get eaten when a little more than lip high and are done. I don’t get the benefit given the cost. When I have left over soybeans, I will throw them in the mix.

I guess different strokes for different…..deer. I’ve planted AWP several times and I’ve yet to see them browsed. They look good though !

I like to mix Daikon radish with my wheat, they eat the heck out of that.
