Finally planted

Health problems and various other things set my planting dates back this year. I should have planted two or three weeks ago. We’ve been getting a few decent rains lately but this is a sure fire way to start a drought. o_O We planted three plots in buckwheat, mostly just to have something growing, maybe a little weed suppression, a place for the bees to shop :), and the deer will eat it. We do have lots of young browse from the TSI that was done last year. No fertilizer was used, saving our fertilizer money for fall. This is my plot and I wish I had taken a “before” picture because the wheat was three feet tall. I mowed it yesterday and we planted today. I disced more than I’d like, but pretty shallow. We’ll see how this all works out. AEB41D23-F944-48E4-B5DE-180D3F541BAD.jpeg

Sorry to hear about the health issues. I'm going out on a limb and predicting a nice buckwheat plot here, reason being, you put it in right.

Looks good. Didn't realize wheat would so well that far south.

I have a great wheat crop every year. Every year it looks like a green carpet until the browse comes forth, then before you know it it’s three feet tall again. I’d like to know how many lbs. or bushels of wheat the deer and hogs eat each fall and winter. Yes, hogs eat it too !E38F4DE8-9FE5-4BC6-9689-BB46FB6D1418.jpeg

Hope your health is on track and buckwheat plot gets the rain needed. Recently my neighbor at the farm was complaining about all the rain. I said "Well let's go ahead and plant food plots and we will take care of that problem". Every year we plant sometime in September and POOF there is no rain
