Hope your wife has a speedy recovery. We just buried my aunt last Saturday and her sister the week before that. Some people it kicks their butt. Local guy here had a empliment dealership and worked 10 and 12 hr days a lot. He was tuff and Covid killed him. I don’t know if they were all diabetic but I heard they are the worst to get sick from Covid. I keep hearing ivomectin will kill it. Here is a convincing video.

Hope she is doing OK. My mother, age 91, survived it, but I'm not sure what for. It has weakened her and her dementia has gotten worse. No appetite and she has lost 25 pounds in a month. It will be one of those cases in which COVID wasn't the cause of death, but it hastened it.

Basically, at least for us, they say “You got it, now go home and quarantine“ I was tested at a testing facility or clinic, my wife was tested at the ER. I think if you go to your doctor you might get a little more attention depending on the individual doctor. I’ve read where some folks took Ivermectin or Hydroxychloriquine but nothing was offered to us. I’m gonna call my doctor tomorrow and just see if she recommends anything at this late date. Being the holidays, I was unable to contact her last week. I surely hope I’m about over it, although I can’t smell anything and can only taste some things. My quarantine is up the 29th and I’m past ready !

According to the statistics from our County, the majority of people being tested are between 20 - 30 years old. They are being told by the Government that testing is the answer and it’s what they’re supposed to do. Green to the ways of the Government. There was just a story in the local news about a woman that got sick so she drove to the testing site while ill and waited hours in line just to get tested. Could have saved a lot of wasted time by just staying home. Didn’t do a thing but tell her what she already knew. If you happen to get a really bad case and need to go to the hospital they will test you there for safety purposes but, other than that I can’t for the life of me see why there’s so many determined to get tested. If they open up a rapid testing site with 1000 open slots they’re reserved in less than 1/2 hour. Cuomo has mandated all nursing home employees to be tested weekly. Now that they are all vaccinated I wonder if he’s going to drop the mandate? I doubt it as he brags about testing numbers.

It seems mandatory testing is the only way testing is getting done anymore. I spoke to a guy last week that is working a pipeline job. They are required to get tested once a week, symptoms or not. I've thought for a while now, there is no upside to getting tested voluntarily, with the exception of being deathly ill. All a person would bring upon themselves is a government bullseye for quarantine and give them another data point to hold up the hysteria.

I contracted it mid November at deer camp from nephew who was asymptomatic but tested positive several days later. My symptoms were very mild, barely noticeable, other than loss of taste and smell for two weeks. Those came back almost as fast as they disappeared, which was bizzare. Daughter got it a week later, she recovered quickly. Wife last to get it three weeks after I had it. She has been to two docs with chest pain, but seems to be coming out of it now. It knocked us down for a month. Once I figured out I had it we separated as much as possible, wore masks when in close contact, etc. Didn't matter, they both eventually got it. Befuddling disease in how it barely affects some, kills others, and has no consistent transmission process. I do believe once it gets into your home, hard to avoid everyone eventually getting it. At least that was my experience.
On a brighter note, we now have immunity for a while, hopefully until vaccines available.

Well, essentially this is saying that if you live a healthier lifestyle and eat a decent diet, you have a stronger immune system and therefore a better chance of kicking this... Who'd have thought.....

My thoughts on this:
I am the guy who should be square in the crosshairs as I’m 73, overweight, type 2 diabetic, have arrhythmia and a pacemaker. I was supposed to have a really hard time with covid. I’ve had much worse from flu in the past so that tells me that the medical profession really knows very little about this virus.
As to why anyone would want to get tested, my reason is that I can’t tell the future. I got tested on my worst day, not knowing I would start getting better almost immediately. I also thought there would be some kind of recommendations as to what to do other than go home and quarantine. (I agree with the quarantine part as I don’t want to be the cause of someone else contracting the virus). There’s also the fact that if I have it, I want to know. I’ve never been one to stick my head in the sand and hope a problem goes away. My daddy taught me that the first time I tried to dodge an ass whipping.
Then there’s these questions. Why wouldn’t you want to know ? Where’s the harm in knowing, or the advantage to not knowing ?

There's no benefit to knowing, other than pacified curiosity or perhaps relief as you now know you're in the clear. Plenty of downside. If you test positive, you may have your income taken away for 3-30 days depending on the company. Your immediate family and anyone you were in contact with may also lose up to a month of income if it's discovered they were cavorting with you at any time in the previous 30 days.
It's even worse in the UK. Police are shaking down non-essential people and inspecting their packages for "non-essential" items, questioning them why they had the gall to leave their homes.
