Yearling bucks with that deer in the headlight look about em

Friday morn I had to run to the new house build to check on things and arrived back at the farm around 10:45. Just before turning in to the gate, I had a lil' spike in the middle of the dirt rd. He hops on to my property. Bout 15 minutes later I'm getting ready to head out to sit a stand. As I open the cabin door, there's my little buddy standing in the middle of the yard bout 30 yds away. He just kinda stares at me and I begin to chat with him like he can understand me. Bout 30 seconds later he be-bops across the yd into the pines.

Friday just before dark, wife and I are sitting on the porch watching deer in cabin field. Maybe the same little feller, but a few doe and decent racked buck are feeding with a little yearling buck kind of hanging just outside the circle of love. Each time he'd try to nuzzle up to either doe or fawn he was met with a little aggression.

Yesterday morn, I sitting a stand deep into the property on the edge of a drainage and bottoms. Right behind my stand is another single yearling buck just wandering around like he's lost. He eases up the hill and hangs around till I'm ready to get out of stand. It's like I had to bump him out of the way on my trail.

Always wonder what's going thru their mind, if anything, when these loners show up on the property looking like their lost. Curious minds wanna know. It's now wonder that most of these get shot in my neck of the woods. They're easy pickings.

I don't know what's going through their minds. But they have to be the dumbest deer in the woods.

They are so dumb, but they make me laugh. I think they are clueless because it’s the first time they’ve ever been alone - either mom just kicked em out or their bachelor group dissolved.

I watched one last night chasing a doe around. He had no clue what to do and had no idea why the doe was acting like a bee was chasing her. He had the most pathetic little grunt.

I'd have to agree with that /\

I think once Mom kicks them out they wander for several months, then find comfort in the Bachelor Group they form with others that had the same happen. Older Bucks usually don't want nothing to do with them (sounds like when your a Teenager but the older guys don't want you around) and then when Nature tells them to break up, they really don't know why.

So they wander around sort of in a Daze wonder what the heck is going on? Their Mom don't want nothing to do with them anymore. Their Summer Buds don't want nothing to do with them. The Older Bucks don't want nothing to do with them.

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE????

I watched a very small Spike come and go to my feeder last year on Opening Day of Archery. He just looked lonely and like he had no idea what to do and was coming back to the Feeder just to see if anyone else might be there.

They have a tingling in their groin that they not sure what that’s about!!! Did none you guys /gals experience the arrival of puberty? And the subsequent stupid acts of chasing Tush as ZZ used to sing???

Doug - You always have a way of putting things in the proper perspective. Do I EVER remember those days!

Saw my tiniest buck ever. I think it's a spike fawn. Watched him play with his sister for an hour headbutting each other. Extra dumb. He's taking care of business in this picture.
