On The Road Again

My wife and I said What the Heck, we're going on a road trip. Driving from Alabama to ft Colorado to visit daughter and family.
I have questions for some along the way:
Northern Mississippi, west Tennessee folks: what's up south Memphis road construction? We have been making this trip for several years and it has always been under repair.

Arkansas folks: lots of crops along I40 that are hard to recognize. Probably soy beans galore but one crop has numerous skinny leaves, almost look like fiddle sticks. What crops are between Memphis and little rock?

Oklahoma folks: wow did they ever take a wide patch of land for the ride of way on those toll roads. Precious pasture land useless for now. Maybe six lanes on either side one day. Also Tulsa used to be the worst part of trip due to construction. Was much better this time!

Kansas: no questions yet. Lot of bikers must be headed to Sturgis

Watch out. If it comes from Kansas it might be flat. Normally the Kansas leg across I70 is brutal with the wind. But yesterday was fairly calm.

Lak, that skinny leaved plant is probably hemp. Don't forget to take your corncob pipe with you next time...…;)

Unless it was protected with a fence or armed guard, it wasn’t hemp. Even us hillbillies have rules to follow.

My parents are heading home today from Colorado. Temps are hot out there also or they were this past week.

I’ve ridden across KS on Harley twice and while the people there are super , I’ll bypass by way of Canada my next trip. Wind is just brutal there. And the skyscraper size grain silos make for a wicked wind tunnel on each side. Beautiful place in June w the WW fields.
I’ve never travelled the interstates. Have a Harley shirt from Dodge City that says
“Get the Hell out of Dodge”. Appropriate.
Copeland is just south of Dodge.

Common known fact here in Oklahoma is that the state of Oklahoma does not own the toll roads. They are owned by Texas and that toll money goes to Texas. Originally we had them do the toll roads and the agreement was once the road was paid off the tolls would go away but just like most any other tax they have not and only increased over the years. The toll company bought all that land via eminent domain of future widening projects if so deemed necessary....crazy!

Tolls are just another form of taxes. Taxes are levied by politicians. Politicians lie. It’s the same here in Texas.

I-55 in Memphis SUCKS. I am a transportation engineer and I can guarantee that road doesn’t meet standards.

It was pretty in Colorado but now a fire near this area. We had lunch sitting on the deck above this stream
