Deertongue

This appears to be deertongue according to several apps. Can I get a good kill with a 2qt/acre gly application? This plant has taken over one of my plots.

you just saved me posting the same question. I have it going crazy along our tree lines, the stuff is super thick and spreads fast.

Deertongue Grass is what all the bio school boys are taught that fescue is but isn't. When it comes to being a nuisance, Fescue wouldn't make a pimple on the rear end of Deertongue.

Yeah, just had a small amount in 2018, now it covers an acre.

Hopefully it makes good cover for my seed when I terminate it and lay it over next month.

Keeping difficult and fast spreading weeds like these in check early before they get too far and take over a whole area can save a lot of time and herbicide money. Weeds that are a piece of cake to kill at 3" tall can be very hard to kill when you have a thick stand like that. I'd go the maximum rate of 48 oz per acre with glyphosate just because of the size and density of that infestation.

I’m planning on applying 2 quarts/acre for all the plots. They’re not all infested with deertongue but they’re all infested with weeds and have never been sprayed.

Grass in this one:

This one looks the best but still has many undesirables:
