Limb on 4 year old Arkansas Black

I saw this limb on one of our apple trees while mowing Saturday. The rest of the tree looks perfectly healthy; as well as the rest of our apple trees. I cut it off and burnt it; was that the right call? For reference, it's a standard tree we planted in the spring of 2016.

Just an fyi... I'm the one who suggested to remove and burn it. So if you're going to call someone a moron make sure not to direct it as KSQ!

Diseased or not, a guy can remove and burn one of his apple tree limbs.

That's not uncommon, in our apple orchard at home I sometimes saw apple trees have one single branch die for some unknown reason and we never did anything with them until trimming time the next winter. But on the long run it always pays to play it safe.

Yes, that is fireblight on that limb. Cut it out a few inches below the dead part and burn it. Follow Dr. Catscratch's advice.....
