Summer....

It’s 94 right now with a heat index of 103. Our friends in NC Kansas have a temp of 100 with a heat index of 108! How many of you merely tolerate summer like me? I try not to wish time away, especially as I’m getting older; but man, I’m already pining for fall!!:(

Heat is no problem. 95% humidity with heat, and swamp level bugs is a problem. I try to keep my time at camp minimal once summer sets in. It's a good time to get friends and family visiting done, cause once fall hits, it's camp time again.

Well, I’ve stalled long enough, time to go to melt on the mower, the yard calls!

I try not to be a negative person as I believe happiness is largely a choice and is determined by your outlook and attitude rather than your circumstances. That being said, I f***ing despise the summer. I understand the necessity for it, apples won’t grow on frosty days, but geesus christ is it a miserable few months.

I live in the mountains. 75 today w nice breeze. Been n 30s/40s mornings of past wk. Have to choose your battles.
Only complaint are the 17 yr Cicadas are literally deafening. Turkeys will be fat and sassy this fall.

I hear you loud and clear. Living in the South it's a different kind of heat. The same people that complain about a brief cold spell are also the ones that complain about the heat. Makes me want to punch them in their throats.

Yeah, summertime ain’t my cup of tea. It used to not bother me but the older I get the more it does. The biggest thing for me though isn’t the actual heat, it’s how much I sweat. I sweat like a logging mule and it drips on my glasses and runs down into my eyes. Doesn’t matter if it’s 90* or 100*, if the humidity is high the sweat is pouring. That leads to cramps and they are painful ! Come on fall !!!

I like hot weather, I've never seen an afternoon that I couldn't make it under the shade tree with a cold drink. I've told my wife I'm not moving an inch further north, and she said she's not moving a foot further south, so it looks like we're going nowhere. But with ac in the cabin, ac in the tractor, and mornings and evenings to work outside, summer is a great time of year. I dislike winter, when the outdoors is barren and lifeless, and wildlife is struggling to survive, and you spend 15 minutes dressing to go out.

Keep a packet of mustard w you for cramps. A small squirt on the tongue and they go away. I’ve seen it work many a time of buddy of mine who suffered w cramps. Pretty cool. Of course salt and potassium certainly helps.
But the heat and humidity of the south just ain’t for me even tho it does get tempting in the frigid temps of Feb.

I'll take the cold over the heat. I've worked in North Dakota, Wyoming and the mountains of Colorado. It was an adjustment for this Mississippi boy but was doable. You can dress for the cold. But there's only so many clothes you can take off before people look at you funny or the cops are called. Second on the mustard. Tum's will stop cramps quick too. With everything that this country is going through I found this funny for us Southern folks.

Odd man out, I like summer and winter. By February I'm ready for summer, by Aug m ready for winter.

That is odd man. Almost like being a liberal and voting for trump. Or being a mennonite and drinking beer. Or getting in the hot tub and dumping in ice cubes... But we all love you anyway.

The older I get the more I dislike the heat. My body much prefers the cold.

I can work outside all day in the winter and come home and feel good. If I do that in the summer in the heat and humidity I’m as worthless as a truck without a trailer hitch at night and just feel lousy. My maternal grandfather was the same way so I must have been born that way.

Gonna be a good summer though because of my new tractor with the cab and ice cold A/C.

Thanks! I heard an interview a few months ago... liberals were saying they would vote Trump if the dems didnt present a good candidate. I suppose crazier things could happen.

I grew up Mennonite, running joke was, what happens when you take a Mennonite fishing?
They drink all your beer.

what happens when you take two? They won’t drink any!
I saw firsthand a lot that was very true statement. I can tolerate the heat but the humidity kills me. As someone who is outside every day, about February I’m longing for warm weather, about June I can’t wait for fall!
