Alligator !

Well, as of a week or so ago, George has officially left for parts unknown. Probably for the best since I’ll be fishing in this pond next spring. My catfish should be in the two pound range by then, maybe more. I can’t say I’ll miss him but it was a cool encounter.

Heeees baaaack ! Not really, but his cousin is. I was down at my shooting bench this morning sighting in my .41 Mag Blackhawk and when I was loading my stuff I happened to glance down at the pond and this sucker was swimming toward me coming right down the dam. This one looks to be around 6’ long as best I can tell. Certainly not as big as the other one. 23EA3186-83C2-4314-9CC3-9C3C12AD7A13.jpeg

good eating size

If I wanted to tag one, I’ve missed my window. Season ended last day of July. I don’t know how long this one will hang around but the novelty has worn off. This one seems much less shy than the other one. He swam right up next to the pond dam and let me video him for a couple minutes. When I drove away he was still there. o_O

Fatten him up for next year?

I think he’s a little bigger than I first thought. Seven feet maybe. I got a good look at him today. C85746F8-2459-46D3-9886-E5576D051BC6.jpeg

So now you're thinking he's too big to dispatch with the 41 Mag Blackhawk?

I could have bopped him between the eyes with my .22 Mag yesterday at about 12/15 yards, but I’ll just let him hang out until he’s ready to leave. Amazing to me that I’ve been here 25 years and two gators visit in one summer.
