Are You Skeered?

You know I don’t go out to eat at restaurants much. Once a month in the winter and maybe once a week in the summer. Since this fiasco I get takeout from all the local restaurants 3 times a week! I wonder if I’ll go to restaurants more when this is over now. LOL. I will never go on a cruise. I get sea sick. And half the people I know that go on them seem to get sick from some germ! But they do love it. To each his own.

We tend to trash talk particular states but there are some good normal people everywhere. I had to have a business call w a melinnial from of all places Cali this week. He works in one of the epicenters of stupidity of this country. We got off topic each asking how this Covid was affecting us and he was as bent out of shape about what was going on from govnt control to free money to all the lies being propagated. We literally didn’t disagree on anything and his coworkers and friends felt the same as he.
Just goes to show this undercurrent of anger and mistrust is everywhere and people for the most part want get on with their lives. Maybe there is hope.
Personally I love Cali and most the people there are quite human. As w most places around the world the squealing noisy minority manage to always push their agenda.
Felt good to work this week. People were so happy to interact again. And they accepted w no question the new norm of social distancing. Life will go on.
I appreciate all the civility on This thread of a very opinionated subject.
Let’s go cage some trees before snow tomorrow. I’ve got them dang tree tubes piled everywhere. May just burn them!

The shallow and dumb make a lifestyle out of virtue signaling on social media. It is rampant and a key sign of character as far as I'm concerned. This panic has been the superbowl of virtue signaling in support of the police state. For those of you that don't know what virtue signaling is, here is the definition. And don't feel bad. I don't take pride in being on the cutting edge of new-speak.

The exploding social media platforms bring people a totally new dynamic of instant connectivity to others in society, unlike anything civilization has known in the past 6000 years. It remains to be seen how all of this shakes out in the coming years. In a sense it's like a lake filled with snow geese, all honking at the same time in this huge racket of noise, and it always makes me wonder if any geese are listening to any other geese's opinions.
As far as this virtue signalling, it makes me think of a bible verse in Romans 12; For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think.

I can definitely vouch for social media making everything worse right now. The amount of stuff I see posted daily right now (on all sides) that lacks any sort of informed opinion is, in some ways, terrifying. Anyone can make a youtube video now and make it look somewhat professional and people will buy it as fact. It's insane.

I'm all for opinion, but social media has pushed everyone to close their minds. Issues that once were a discussion are now a line drawn in the sand. I think the current situation we find ourselves in is highlighting how toxic social media can be.

Once again I’ve learned something. I’m not sure if I needed to, but I did. This forum, a couple of gun forums and TexasBowhunter is all the social media I frequent. No facebook, no twitter, no instagram, none of the others that I cannot remember the names of. I trust no media to deliver the full, unvarnished truth, and politicians even less. This whole covid thing is beginning to reek of just another power grab. The more I hear, the more I think that it’s no more harmful than many strains of flu.

Quite a coincidence that it started just 6 months before an election in which the donkey party hopes to kick the pachyderm out of office. Or is it......

I find it amusing that people blame the Democrat party. This is the same party that gave us Hilary and ultimately gave us the president we have now. They have their heads so far up their rears that a dentist could treat them for rectal issues. Their just not that bright. They left their base awhile back. I said it from the beginning that this thing has exposed every weakness we have as a nation. Our leadership sucks! Our healthcare system is a joke and neither party could care less about the American people. Their too busy dividing us so they can keep getting reelected.

It'll be interesting to see how the 2020 total death rate stacks up against past years. That number will be difficult to manipulate, and will tell us the actual whole unvarnished truth about COVID19.

So far it seems pretty close. Flu deaths have gone to zero. Time will tell.

Widespread fishing and hunting closures, which have raised the ire of many, may become more targeted, according to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Director Kelly Susewind.

During a 30-minute livestreamed discussion conducted as part of The Spokesman-Review’s Northwest Passages online forums, Susewind explained why the state’s wildlife management agency elected to suspend spring fishing and hunting seasons.

At its core, the suspensions are about reducing travel and slowing the spread of the coronavirus, he said. The decision to close seasons was made after looking at hunting permit data and talking to local health officials.

Based on hunting permit information, roughly 70% of spring turkey hunters in 2019 traveled out of their home county to hunt, he said. Ninety percent of spring bear hunters traveled for their hunt.
He acknowledged the frustration many hunters and anglers have expressed at the closures. The agency will suffer losses to its finances and its reputation as a result of season suspensions, he said.
“We are taking a lot of hits,” he said. “The reputation of the agency is at a low because of these closures.

“We are trying to get folks out there, to maintain these opportunities.”

And he offered notes of hope for cooped-up sportsmen and sportswomen. This week, he met with representatives from more than 30 outdoor advocacy groups and discussed how best to reopen the seasons.

“One of the big things we hear from those groups is, open in a way where the locals can participate,” he said.

A proposal for in-county hunting, particularly for the turkey season, which was supposed to have opened Wednesday, was rejected by WDFW. Susewind said that’s because enforcing it would have been difficult. It also raises issues of equity.

But going forward, he said it is likely that the agency will adopt a more targeted approach. Under the current order, all hunting and fishing is closed until May 4.

“We’re looking at a number of ways to try trying to open this,” he said. “We’re committed to trying to open it as soon as we can.”

WDFW closed fishing statewide on March 25, following Gov. Jay Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order, in an effort to slow the spread of Covid-19

The closure angered many anglers who wished for a narrower approach. WDFW also canceled the youth turkey hunting season, which was set to open April 1, and black bear hunting in some units. Those measures were followed by the statewide closure of all spring fishing and hunting.

We not only kept our fishing and hunting seasons open, the governor gave 2 months of free/no license fishing for residents.
Our turkey and deer seasons are about 1/3 out of state hunters. Lodges and campgrounds were closed in part as we suddenly were getting an influx of people from high infection areas/NYC and they were not self quarantining for 14 days as requested. But all parks and national areas were open for access including hunting. Trout stocking continued thru the spring.
The only problem I saw was it was crowded fishing on our streams.
Again , going into our 3rd wk of open for business the rate is dropping on positives w 2.2% being the norm. This after testing all nursing homes and daycare centers and emphasis on black community as their rates tend to be slightly higher for various reasons.
Shutting down outside areas including hunting , golfing , hiking , etc was a stupid move by some states. Control. Scary.

That’s the question they won’t answer. What’s your plan? If you ask some of these people when they think the lockdowns should end they have no answer. The only thing they say is, the best thing to do is stay inside. A big rally cry is “how many lives are you willing to sacrifice for money”. I hear that one a lot. But if asked when and what will happen to end the lockdowns, they have no answer. If the unemployment rate is 15% that means 80+% are working, albeit some from home. So those people and a good share of the ones not working are out and about What has been accomplished? A certain segment of workers are told they don’t matter. That’s what’s been accomplished. Most who support these lockdowns are people that have no adverse effect on their finances. No skin in the game You see this in celebrity. We have all the money we will ever need but, hey by the way you should stay in your house forever. It’s your duty”. I wonder if Elon Musk is really going to follow through in pulling Tesla out of California.

Yeah, I know the answer is they have no answer. They got lots of solutions looking for a problem, however. Want to have some fun? Ask them what if re-opening everything saves ONE life.

There was a discussion amongst deacons and members this morning after church about cancelling our monthly conference and Bible School in June. I told them they might as well just go ahead and cancel everything from now on because no matter how long you hide, no matter how many masks you wear, when you come out, or take that mask off, the virus is going to be waiting. Again, the REAL question is how long do folks want to live in fear. It is no way to live life and I refuse to. I have to live my life worried everyday about another heart attack. I'm NOT going to let it stop me from living. I might die from CV19 tomorrow, but I'd go to my grave believing the reaction to this is a communist plot to undermine America and control our lives and the perfect opportunity to do so.

So, if people continue to hide and cancel everything what does that accomplish? Is this going to mysteriously disappear on Nov 4? If not, it WILL be waiting on them when they come out.
When Nov. 4th arrives, and Trump wins, I believe we will never hear another word on the MSM about this "pandemic". It will disappear quicker than Pelosi's memory.

I don’t know about that. It’s more likely they take another swing at impeachment for the handling of CV. A lot of the CV policies are politically driven and the fact we’re in an election year doesn’t help ....BUT...I don’t think another four years of Trump will be enough to shut them up.

I ate in a restaurant the first time since Early March today. The Mexican restaurant I ate at was always almost standing room only before the hoax came along that for some reason the powers that be decided to kill our economy. There were a few cars when we pulled up but most were sitting in the car. We went in and there were only 2 people dining inside at noon on taco Tuesday. Everyone else was afraid to come in. We got our food and ate inside and it was nice. Nobody else came in while we were there and there were just a few waiting in cars. I asked the lady who took our money if it would ever come back...she asked “will what come back” I said the people, the economy and she said “this is good, I just hope this disease goes away and people stay home”...it was sad that she doesn’t even see that sitting home is absolutely no life...
