Pole saw, battery or gas??

If you already have a weed trimmer you like you can turn it into a limb saw.
I'd be careful with that saw blade on a weed eater modification, they are notoriously dangerous, I read a horrible story about an accident with one. When that blade grabs and the operator is off balance the cutting head can take off in a big loop, endangering the operator and any bystanders.

I won't even be in the same Zip Code as someone using a weed trimmer with the saw blade.
It was probably 20 years ago when my son, my son-in-law, a good friend of ours and a couple other workers along with me were working at cutting a new snowmobile trail for our local club. We had chainsaws, hand brush trimmers and our friend had his weed trimmer with the 'Buzz Saw" blade installed. We had been working for a while and I just happened to look up in time to see my son-in-law bend over to pick up some brush when the saw blade came flying off our friend's weed trimmer and go only inches over my S-I-L's head and off into the woods.
I can't place the blame on anyone. Our friend was always very careful in doing anything he did. He had been running the saw on and off for a couple hours or more before the blade flew off.
You are right about those set ups doing loops also. I personally haven't seen this happen but I have heard stories about it happening. I'm sure I never will see it happen unless someone has taken a video of it. I won't be there!

Good to know, I had no idea.

Check out the Oregon brand battery pole saws. A bit pricey but they are some kind of nice. Had mine for little over a year and it's been a beast. Comes with either 40V or 60V. I got the 40 and it's good for 2+ hrs of steady work cutting. Son has the 60V. Recharges in bout an hour n half.

x2 on the Oregon.... I haven’t used it heavily but it’s been great around the house and I love how quick and quiet it is for trimming trees for tree stands and shooting lanes. ... seems really well built so far
