Out of state trips planned this fall?

Will be going to Kansas in December to hunt rifle whitetails. Skipping my annual Nebraska hunt in November in retaliation for their prohibiting non-residents from spring turkey hunting. First time I’ll miss that in 20 years.

I wanted to try their turkeys this spring too. I’ve heard there are plenty with low to moderate pressure if you stay out of the NW corner.

My place is in the NW corner. We're COVERED UP with friggin' turkeys. In the fall it's like shooting ducks in a barrel. Little more challenging in the spring.

No hunts. Have a Cali trip planned mid Aug to do a coastal trip again down Rt 1. Lazy trip w no itinerary other than to surf some highlights. Prob will survive the Covid then die by shark. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?

If you’re concerned about sharks, don’t paddle out at surf beach in Lompoc, CA. It’s been featured on shark week several times.

Those are my old deer and pig hunting grounds, never did surf that spot.

With our big move to Virginia over the summer I doubt I’ll do much border jumping by fall. VA and NC for sure though. It will be interesting to see how the state governments handle future flare ups of COVID cases. It will almost certainly impact fall hunts in certain areas.

I am in South Dakota right now...drove up from Oklahoma a few days back. Seeing all these pheasant running along the side of the highway makes me want to make pheasant happen this year.

I've had sharks swimming along side me. Gotta ignore it or stay on the beach. I just hope if they bite, they bite good. I don't want cause a frenzy with my own blood. I actually worry more of getting tore up on the rocks in a wipeout.
Cool you hunted there. Hunting that country would def be a different experience for most I would think.

I shot my first archery deer on Vandenberg AFB in 2006, that area is really cool. I've arrowed hybrid mule deer and pigs within a hundred yards of the beach.

The shark attacks at surf beach are typically fatal, no nibbling. BIG mature great whites. It's all or nothing with those big girls, no flirting.

 Just the thought of that makes this Midwest landlubber cringe.

Mule deer hybridized with what? Black tails?

Yes. Most deer in CA are hybrids. The state identifies something like nine separate species. Blacktails along the northern coast to Buro mule deer in the desert south east.

The coastal hybrids I hunted the most were unique animals. A huge buck might be 115 inches.

This 95” buck was the largest I arrowed.

Got my email notification that I was selected in the Kansas draw. So looking forward to my mid November trip to the Midwest.

Supposed to go to Alaska in August for caribou if they have the season. Will go to Colorado for Muleys in sept then hopefully Ohio for whitetail at some point.

Wow! You're going to have an active fall. Please report on your successes with some trophy pics.
