Are You Skeered?

I’m gonna be in the minority here I guess, but I don’t like little trucks. I drove F250s for years because it was my only truck. Now, I drive an F150 with a camper top because I like the ride better. I have an F350 flatbed to pull my tractor and backhoe with. The F250 wouldn’t pull my dozer safely IMO so I figured if I had to get a bigger truck for that, I’d step down a size in my every day truck.

My brother had a Datsun when they first came to the USA, and he used to brag about the gas mileage. I told him that was because each time three of us went fishing his truck sat at home !:D

Ford says a compact pickup is coming in 2021 with a starting price under $20K. Besides the ugly picture, would you consider one at that price?

Those 2 little trucks my family had were probably the best pickups we ever had! Those things were impossible to kill and if they hadn’t been sold long ago I am sure we would still be driving them. I wish I could find one again! I have one but under the Nissan moniker...

I had an identiclal Nissan to the one on your trailer. Famous for the frame rusting through, as mine did.

You must live in the rust belt? Mine is all still great. Had it on a lift for 2 days after I took that photo while I redid the clutch slave cylinder and brakes and I looked everything over real well.

You guys won't do. We are discussing viruses and govt control and our rights under attack. And you, always positive, always upbeat, always gonna survive, move to small trucks. Gotta love it!

Yes that is so true and what I would hope for. While I /we may take notice of inconsistencies around us we tend to keep things in perspective. Observant, counter active , realistic, yet not really scared. The fruit tree has a problem , the tractor breaks down , need to choose a good saw , gotta decide whether to use a cage or tube, we simply analyze the challenge and proceed w a decision.
I’m glad we aren’t afraid to pick up the stone and approach Goliath w confidence. I’m proud to be associated w such a fine group of people who have their priorities in order.
Stay vigilant. Place your faith in that other than the world. I expected a few responses to what I thot was a simple question that transitioned in to a bunch of responses. Good stuff.
But I ask... don’t you think my Hemi is better motor than say Ford or Chevy?? Just curious. Thanks guys.

Amen to that. And the hemi is by far better. Of course the pre-1994 Cummins is still the best engine ever built.

Sarge would not ride in that fake truck !:D
Sarge is the smartest dog I know. Would he be available to come and run our health department in PA? We have an "it" pretending to run it now. "It" doesn't know whether to stand up or sit down to use the restroom. Is Sarge smart enough to lift his leg for a fire hydrant?

Hemi is fine until you have the dread “lifter” issue and find out none available in the US for warranty work so you have to void your warranty by going aftermarket to get your truck going again. Crazy! I love my 6.7 Cummins! Had a 5.9 Cummins before this one and it had some power but nothing like this 6.7 has. The 5.9 C was peaky and ran like a 2 stroke motorcycle. The 6.7 is just raw torque!

Yea if you run a Hemi you have expect to listen to the lifters. And heaven forbid they fail. And replacing double plugs / cylinder is an exercise in preserving ones salvation in itself. But since most think Jeeps are underpowered it’s so much fun to embarrass the Mustangs , Camaros , and up chipped 3/4 ton jacked up smoke bellowing pickups that think their chit is hot. Gotta love it. Speed kills but I ain’t died yet.

Most 1/2 ton gas pickups can outrun my diesel but none can out pull it which is all I am concerned about...I have other things that I can take on the things you (dogghr) mentioned as thinking they are fast. To me fast is a whole nuther concept than what someone would buy off a lot. I have run against hellcats, demons, any kind of stang you can name, track hawks, vettes, camaros, etc...they are all slow in the drag world...I haven’t died of speed yet and am about as fearless a person as you would see on a 2 lane blacktop straightaway against much, much faster stuff than mentioned...if you don’t have at least 1k HP and 900+foot lbs and can drive a small tire on the sketchiest stuff you have ever seen then you are just a bystander, spot filler, etc...we list race and I am #2 at this point. My last race against #1 was the most scared I have ever been because that 8.5 ft wide lane with no shoulder and speeds of over 125 in 660 feet all while not being hooked to the asphalt and both vehicles door to door the entire way and sometimes only the 6” wide stripe between us. It came down to crash both cars or live to race another day on that pass...

I have something else in the works now so I don’t have to be the 3940 lb guy running the 2700 lb guy...

Sarge probably could not put up with politics MM, hell, he won’t even mind me, and I feed him, give him his eye drops, insulin shots, etc. He do know how to pee like a man though !

A new Hill-HarrisX poll confirms as much, as The Hill reports, "More than 7 in 10 voters fear losing freedoms due to the coronavirus pandemic, though exposure to the virus topped concerns overall, according to a poll released Monday."

In total 74% are ultimately more worried about the government taking away their rights amid the pandemic.

Looks like us tin foil hat guys may be the majority.

Governor Phil Murphy. NJ. “ I never even considered the bill of rights when I made these orders “. Says it all.
Governor Cuomo. NY. “ if you want to work , become an essential worker “. Else you have no right to work

I’m not wishing my demise but I’d rather kick it by way of an engine than pass w a ventilator pumping me like a Ho on Main Street. Of course I’m being a bit facetious. Always like your pimped rides.
Anyways went for long drive to social distance today and do some trout fishing. On our way home along a mostly deserted road my wife and I saw an older lady trying to manhandle a stuck zero turn mower. Yes!! A zero turn. She was at least mid 80 and was mowing along the road. We went and turned around to help her. Honest she looked dressed for church. We finally managed to unstick the mower from the storm drain she was in. Said she wasn’t really used to this mower as her son usually mowed. Thanked us and the Damn woman hopped back on the mower and went back to mowing as we drive off. Was so much my own stubborn mom it wasnt funny.
Life plays some odd tricks on who interacts with us along our journey. Right place at the right time. Hope I stay that stubborn thru whatever years I have left. Stay safe people and live long.
