Seeing all this big machine operation posted lately, I thought I better balance it with some elbow grease. We put 15 dwarf chinquapin oaks and a dozen Allegheny chinquapins in the ground this week. They were seedlings; we usually plant more knowing that not all will make it, but this year we went the route of tree tubes hoping to have a very high success rate of growth. Dco’s in my experience are tough as all get out, but this is our first go with the Allegheny’s. Also picked up two more sheds while working. That makes 8 sheds out of our lower barn plot this year. And to think I’ve never found a single shed in a food plot before this year, crazy!
