How do you grow weeds like that? New forum idea? 😅

That picture is buck-on-a-bag worthy, haha! Those are some lush food plots.

Only took about 9 years! Finally have apples in most of the trees and pears are ready to break the branches some are so full. The pears in the bottom also producing, but to a much lesser extent. Did have a late frost, but I guess it didn't hurt much. Now, if I can keep the squirrels at bay...

    He's a Runner!

https://www.outdoorlife.com/hunting/whitetail-travels-200-miles/ Interesting story about the buck that covered 200 miles during Missouri rut. Seemed to be on the move every day, averaging 8.5 miles per day. Kind of crazy to think about. No wonder so many people talk about the buck their...

Stone Branch, build it, they will come.

You have one bad-arse doe there, running the coyotes off day and night. You may want to tread lightly walking into the early morning stands this fall, she may decide no one is taking her new paradise back, haha. I walked into my woods once early morning, scraped the leaves away from the tree...

Place is looking great. I suspect the local dogs haven't been back because the last time they merrily trotted down the lane, they ran into a tank and took some shrapnel. Didn't take them long to figure out there's a new sheriff in the hood. I've had same experience with girdling maples...

Nice tom! Agreed that clear-cutting could support a much larger deer population, and allow you to pull them in when food sources more scarce. Save up money, next step will be subdivide that property and sell it, should go cheap if it's clear cut. I would guess they will try to sell in larger...

Wow, you've done a massive amount of work this spring. I would stick to planting fruit trees well up your hills, if not at the top when possible. Frost pockets seem to be the real deal in the valley around me in southern, IN. That said, the pears have managed to produce a few good crops, the...

Forecasted Freeze tonight - bye bye apples and Pears

29 Tuesday night and 31 Wednesday night southern IN, but I'm in a valley that often sees lows 2 degrees below the forecast. Rain turning to light snow is in the forecast tuesday night, so maybe that will help a little? Could be turkey hunting opening morning Wednesday with snow on the ground...

    Bartlett and Dolgo rootstock

Thanks for the tip, I went ahead and ordered a dozen, they arrived about 3 weeks ago. 10 already in the ground and two potted for future locations. Finally have plenty of crabapples, at a cheap price. Willing to take a chance at $36/dozen plus shipping. Big box stores around here are...

Gotta have courage to light it up like that, haha. Seems like all that ash would make an ideal seedbed, you going to plant wheat or something in there or is it still too shady for that?
