    Recreating a Deer Woods

I did some reading on them at blue hill and they look great! Do they need a pollinator? I didn't see anything about a pollinator in the description. Having a great tree like this, that has some legacy to it as well, would fit in very well on the Massey.

    Drought and Survival

We've tried everything. Only tactic that has worked in the last couple years was taking my car to the gym 3 weeks ago.:D That was the best rain we'd gotten in a long time; unfortunately, it was very short-lived.

    Recreating a Deer Woods

I think a turning point apple might be on the wishlist, in honor of everything this particular journal represents. Does blue hill sell these trees Native?

    Drought and Survival

Glad you got some, I saw the radar dumping down your way. Hope you get feeling better. Allergies wreak havoc for me this time of year.

    Callery Pear Grafting

Does this look like another callery pear? Sucker got me on the palm pretty good while I was looking it over, it has pretty nasty thorns for sure. Also, if it is a pear, can I graft two different kinds of pears to it next year, if they grow, will they pollinate each other?

    The Massey

Took a walk at the Massey today, took a few pics. The Northern Whitetail Crabs continue to impress. I’ll be curious as to how the fruit turns out, assuming we get enough rain to keep them from aborting. Droptine 30-06 Is this oak okay? It’s SO hard to keep stuff alive in this new climate of...

    Chestnut Production?

A number of the chestnuts are beginning to lift out of the soil, which tells me the root system must is getting bigger. Hoping for some top growth soon. It also looks like a number of the chestnuts are dead unfortunately.

    Drought and Survival

The mid summer to early fall outlook isn’t good, EXCEPT for the likelihood of a very active hurricane season. So I hope you’re right.

    Drought and Survival

We were a part of that widespread drought in ‘11 & ’12. It was rough, but nothing like what we’re experiencing now. When it comes to this forum, it sucks because I have nothing to contribute but complaining. When nothing grows, what can you say on a habitat forum?

    Drought and Survival

Most of you have experienced drought at some time or another. At what point does it not become drought and it becomes a new climate? As I see rain is falling once again in Texas, and people in Southern California are again complaining about too much rain, I can’t help but wonder if the climate...

    Undecided, but leaning !😁

Holy crap, your plot looks good! Must be nice to not live in a desert.

    Drought and Survival

Sprayed our main plot off the Massey 3 weeks ago with cleth. Trying hard to get motivated to plant, a buddy is willing to let me use his no-till drill to put in oats and clover. Rain continues to miss us to the N,S,E,&W. I’m wondering if plotting at this point is futile? I could save a lot of...
